When you’re a professor AND a student… 😅📚

Tell me why I didn’t realize the classes I’m taking started a whole week before the classes I’m teaching. 🙃

Yep. Missed the first assignment. 🤦🏾‍♀️😂

So tonight, I’m doing what I tell my own students to do—getting ORGANIZED! I’m putting every start date, deadline, and reminder in my calendar for all of my future doctoral classes.

Because apparently Professor Wilburn needs to listen to Professor Wilburn too. 😂😂😂

Lesson learned. Calendar updated. Doctorate still loading… 🎓⏳

First week of Fall 2026 is officially COMPLETE! 📚💙🙌🏾

A little behind the scenes of Professor Wilburn. 👩🏾‍🏫😂

This semester I added a full Brightspace course walkthrough after a great suggestion from my mentor. I’ve always made quick tutorials when questions come up because if one student asks…I KNOW at least two others are wondering the same thing! 😂

Anything to make navigating the semester a little easier.

Week 1 down. We’re officially underway! 💙

Receiving the Ralph M. Besse Excellence in Teaching Award was an incredible honor, but reading WHY my students nominated me meant even more.

They described me as encouraging, inspiring, supportive, empowering, passionate, and energetic. 🥹

One student described my support as having “a guiding hand helping me move forward and believe in my goals.”

Whew. 💜

I don’t just want my students to pass my classes. I want them to leave more confident, more prepared, and believing in what they’re capable of accomplishing.

That’s the real award for me. 💜

🎉 Officially Assistant Professor of Business Administration!

Nearly 10 years ago, I sent an email asking for an opportunity to teach at Tri-C. Today, I’m stepping into my new role as Assistant Professor of Business Administration. 💙

I kept showing up. I kept growing. And I kept going.

Grateful for the journey and excited for this next chapter! ✨

FIRST CLASS DOWN!!! 🎓🙌🏾 And I got an A! 🥹

I started pursuing my doctoral degree in 2022, but life had other plans. Eventually, I had to put this goal on hold and focus on my family.

Now, life is still FULL. 😂 I'm still juggling work, motherhood, marriage, activities, responsibilities and everything else life throws my way—but this time, I'm making room for ME too. ❤️

And I DID IT!

First class of my new doctoral program: COMPLETE.
Final paper: 295/300 🙌🏾
Final grade: A 🎉

It wasn't easy. The learning curve was REAL, and I'm still figuring out how to balance it all. But I did it.

One class closer to Dr. Wilburn. 🎓

Well, the gold braces are BACK! 😬✨

I had gold braces for most of my teenage years, so when it was time to get braces again as an adult, I had to bring the gold back.

I guess it's time I start documenting this journey. 🎓

I'm back in school working on my Doctor of Business Administration, and this time, I'm determined to finish.

Life is FULL, so I'm using social media as a little extra accountability along the way.

First receipt: 172/175 on my latest paper. 🙌🏾

I'm not waiting until graduation to celebrate the progress.

One assignment closer to Dr. Wilburn. 🎓
