Clock's ticking! ⏰ The October 15th tax extension deadline is officially less than two weeks away.

If you asked for extra time to file your federal tax return earlier this year, that extra time is almost up. Please keep in mind that an extension only gives you more time to file your paperwork, not more time to pay. Missing the deadline triggers steep failure to file penalties, so it’s incredibly important to get your return submitted on time, even if you have to set up a payment plan later.

📢 To all my fellow business owners and self-employed friends:

We are officially in the fourth and final quarter of the year! If you want to finish the year strong and stress free, you need to get your tax paperwork wrapped up right now.

Why you can't afford to wait:
👉 Clear your mental space: You can't successfully map out your Q4 business goals or holiday strategy if you're still stressed about last year's taxes.
👉 Protect your wallet: Filing late means paying unnecessary fees right when you should be reinvesting that money back into your business growth.
👉 Find every deduction: Taking the time to properly look over your 1099s and receipts now means keeping more of your hard earned money.

Don't wait until the night before to scramble through old files. Let's commit to getting this paperwork off our desks this week so we can focus 100% on crushing our goals for the rest of the year! 💪

PA Business Owners

Don’t risk cancellation of your business registration.

As of 2025 PA requires annual reports. The new requirement replaced the decennial report which was every 10 years.

If you did not file the report in 2025, you must file 2025 and 2026 to catch up.

Using your business account to make a purchase does not make that purchase a business expense.

It is important to ensure your preparer can be found on the IRS website. Always make sure your return was signed by the preparer you paid. Your return should not say “self prepared” if you paid for your return to be completed by a preparer.

Happy holidays!

We have 10 days remaining until year end.

Here are a few reminders:

🚨Upcoming Efile Shutdown

For both individuals and businesses the E-File shutdown is 12/26/25 (Tip: file before this date). The following years currently can be efiled, 2022, 2023 and 2024. Once it shuts down no returns can be efiled until it reopens in 2026.

🚨Estimated Payments

4th quarter estimated payments are due 1/15/26.

🚨Financial Planning

New budgets should be complete. However, there is still time to prepare for the upcoming year.

🚨Tax Planning

Tax planning should be year round, however this is the remaining few days to plan for the upcoming year. Remember, tax planning is proactive, tax preparation is reactive. Once the year ends you have missed most opportunities to reduce your tax liability for 2025.

There are many reasons why it is imperative for small business owners to keep timely and accurate records.

Not knowing your numbers can result in catastrophic issues for your business.

Seven disadvantages of poor bookkeeping:

1. Not knowing if your business is profitable.
2. Inaccurate or nonexistent financial statements.
3. Bounced checks and negative bank balances.
4. Vendor accounts being placed on hold.
5. Inability to secure funding/working capital.
6. Increase probability of business closure.
7. Unpaid tax liabilities.

We are more than halfway through the year. Contact us to get your financials in order.
