“You overthink everything.”

I’ve heard that more times than I can count.

Mostly in my personal life. 😅

And honestly… maybe I do.

But this week, while I was setting up a new client and thinking through every possible scenario, I realized something…

Overthinking might be one of my greatest strengths as a bookkeeper.

I don’t just ask,
“Where should this transaction go?”

I ask…

• Is this the best way to set this up for them long-term?
• Will this make their financial reports easier to understand?
• Is there a workflow that will save them time every month?
• Am I setting them up to maximize every legitimate deduction and make tax time as smooth as possible?
• Could this decision save them time, money, or headaches later?
• How will this impact them six months from now?
• Is there an even better solution?

Could I just enter transactions and move on?

Absolutely.

But that’s not why I started Acuity Bookkeeping.

I genuinely care about my clients and their businesses. I want them to succeed. I want them to understand their numbers, make confident decisions, and have someone in their corner who’s thinking ahead—not just checking boxes.

So yes…

I probably do overthink.

But my clients deserve more than the quickest answer.

They deserve the best answer.

If that means spending extra time researching, planning, or looking at a problem from every angle, I’ll do it every single time.

💵 Have you ever paid for something with cash… then completely forgotten about it?

Maybe you grabbed office supplies.

Bought a client lunch.

Stopped for a few things at the hardware store.

You stuck the receipt in your wallet, your truck, or your purse…

…and never thought about it again.

Trust me—you are not the only one.

But here’s the problem:

If that expense never makes it into your books, it probably won’t make it onto your tax return either.

That means you could be missing out on legitimate deductions, and your financial reports won’t reflect what it actually costs to run your business.

Here’s a habit I recommend to my clients:

📸 The moment you make a cash purchase, snap a picture of the receipt.

If you use QuickBooks Online, upload it using Receipt Capture. QuickBooks can often read the receipt and pull in the details for you, making it quick and easy to record.

It takes less than a minute, but it can save you money, reduce stress at tax time, and give you a much clearer picture of your business.

The little things really do add up.

☀️ Monday Reset. New Week. New Opportunities.

Long weekends are great for recharging, spending time with family, and making memories.

But this morning, it’s time to reset.

As I sat down to plan my week, I wasn’t thinking about checking boxes or simply getting through my to-do list. I was thinking about my clients.

Every business I work with has different goals, different challenges, and different dreams. My job isn’t just to keep the books accurate—it’s to make sure each client has the financial clarity and support they need to keep moving forward.

That means showing up.

Even on the busy days.
Even after a long weekend.
Even when there’s a full calendar waiting.

Because behind every set of books is a business owner who’s trusting me to be part of their team.

I’m not just here to reconcile accounts.

I’m here to answer questions, celebrate wins, solve problems, and help you make confident decisions that move your business forward.

This week, just like every week, my focus is simple:
