The first step in dealing with money stress is building a healthier mindset. Reducing the pressure and the noise of it all.

Besides that, here are some other practical things you can do right now:

1. List your debts. So you know where things are currently at before you start tackling them.

2. Rank your spending. See where your money’s been going, and figure out where you want it to go.

3. Eliminate impulse spending. Buying things or making decisions that make you feel better in the moment don’t often make you feel better in the long term.

4. Automate your financial transactions. This can even save you money in some cases, and will ensure you don’t miss payments or pay late fees.

5. Find an extra source of income. A lot of people have a side hustle these days, because they’re in the same boat you are. There are lots of opportunities out there.

6. Start saving. Yes, even when things are tight. Because you know from experience you’ll need to rely on those savings to get you through.

You're doing more online shopping this time of year which means more of your personal data is shared online. This creates more opportunities for theft.

Here are a few identity protection best practices that we've found can help guard you from digital thieves:

PROTECT YOUR PASSWORDS.
The longer the password, the tougher it is to crack.

Some password tips:
- Use at least 10 characters; 12 is ideal for most home users.
- Mix letters, numbers, and special characters.
- Try to be unpredictable – don’t use your name, birthdate, or common words.
- Don’t use the same password for many accounts.
- Don’t share passwords on the phone, in texts, or by email.
- Keep your passwords in a secure place out of plain sight.

And if this seems like a lot to do and keep track of on your own, there are literally dozens of password security providers out there now. (LastPass, Dashlane, LogMeOnce, Bitwarden, 1Password, etc.) Pick one and start using it today.
