Happy Day 365! I completed my goal to post every day for a full year, through empty winter beaches and perfect fall afternoons. That's how I approach real estate on the North Fork and throughout Brookhaven Town too. I don't show up only when the market is hot. I'm here in February when everyone says it's quiet, and I'm here in October when it's golden. If you're thinking about selling, I'd love to be the person who shows up for you. The C in Coram stands for…

It all started in Setauket in 1655, the first settlement in what became the Town of Brookhaven, now the largest town in New York by total area.

In 1790, George Washington traveled the Old Town Road from Coram to Setauket. That same year, Brookhaven moved its town meetings to the Davis House in Coram, because Coram sat right in the center of town. They met there until 1885.

So what does the C stand for? Central. And today, Convenience.

This rock has been here longer than the United States 🇺🇸

Patriots Rock in Setauket was a meeting place for the Setalcott people. On August 22, 1777, Continental troops used it for cover during the Battle of Setauket, firing on Loyalists dug in at the Presbyterian church across the Green.

It's still standing right on Main St, across from the post office. Have you ever stopped to see it?

🚧 What's going on at 347 & Nicolls? 🚧

If you drive through Stony Brook, you've seen the cones, the lane shifts and that giant pit. Here's the breakdown:

🔹 Right now: The state is rebuilding the 1-mile stretch of 347 from Hallock Rd to Nicolls Rd (about $45M). Major work should wrap up in 2027.
🔹 That big pit? Not the bridge. It's a drainage basin to handle heavier storms along the corridor.
🔹 The big one: A bridge carrying 347 over Nicolls Rd. Construction is set to start in late 2028, moved up from 2034, with completion targeted for around 2031–32.

It's one of the busiest intersections on the Island and the gateway to Stony Brook University and the hospital. When it's done, it'll change how a lot of us get around.

Did you know Riverhead used to be part of Southold? 👀
In 1792, Riverhead split off and became its own town. But it had already been the Suffolk County seat since 1727, and it still is today.
The Peconic River is the longest river in Suffolk County, and it's the reason this town exists. Mills have run on it since the 1600s, and now the Riverwalk is one of the best spots on the East End to stroll, kayak, or just take it all in.
Next up: a $32M Town Square connecting Main Street to the river, set to open in 2028. Downtown Riverhead is about to look a lot different.

You've probably driven past this sign a hundred times.
Right off Canal Road in Port Jefferson Station sat a Victorian-era harness racing track, the Gentlemen's Driving Park. Horses raced a half-mile oval here starting around 1882.
Now it's just a sign and some trees.
Day 358 of 365.

Billy’s Park in Blue Point is named for Billy Schettino. He grew up here and wanted a skate park on what was then an empty lot locals called “the wasteland.” Billy died in 2012 at 18. His family kept pushing the town and county for more than a decade, and the park opened in March 2024.
Kids skate there every day now.
