Stimulus Check Delays may be due to inaccurate bank info.
The IRS intended to send all payments directly to eligible recipients. However due to an IRS error, the IRS initially routed some EIP-2 payments to temporary 2019 tax refund accounts at Your tax preparers funding bank which, after processing tax refunds in 2019 were closed prior to the EIP-2 Stimulus Payments. This occured the 1st time but the funding bank sent it to ur bank. Thats not happening this time.
In the circumstance that the IRS attempts to deposit an eligible recipient’s EIP-2 Stimulus Payment to a closed account (the funding bank acct) in error, the payment is automatically returned to the IRS.
If the IRS Get My Payment tool shows that your payment has been routed to an account number ending with the last 3-4 digits of your SSN plus zero (for example for SSN 123-45-6789, the account number would end with 7890), then that means your payment was erroneously routed to The funding bank and has already been returned to the IRS. Please allow 7-10 days for the returned payment to reflect an updated status on the IRS website. You will get a paper check!
