If you’re planning to claim your child(ren) on your tax return, please make sure you have the necessary documents ready before filing.

📄 Birth Certificate:

🪪 Social Security Card:

Having a child does NOT automatically mean you qualify for Head of Household. 🧐

Here’s what generally matters:

🔹 Household expenses — You typically must pay more than half the cost of maintaining your home.

🔹 Qualifying person — The person you claim must meet specific IRS requirements.

🔹 Living arrangements — Residency rules can play a major role.

🔹 Marital status — You must meet the IRS requirements for being unmarried or considered unmarried.

💡 Bottom line: Don’t choose Head of Household simply because you have dependents. Your filing status should be based on your actual circumstances.
