I often see people make financial decisions based on one question: “Can I afford the payment?”

The car payment fits.
The mortgage gets approved.
The vacation can go on the credit card.
The monthly subscription is only $30.

But then all those “small” decisions start competing with savings, emergencies, debt payments, and everything else life throws at you.

That’s the part we don’t always think about.

Before taking on a new expense, look beyond the payment and ask: Can I comfortably carry this and still take care of everything else that matters?

Because there’s a difference between being able to pay for something and being able to handle the financial responsibility that comes with it.

And that difference can have a lot to do with how much financial breathing room you have.

Save this one for the next time you’re tempted to say, “But I can afford the payment.” 😉

Just focus on what you can do today.
