We’re proud to recognize Laura Ortiz Monraga, Supervisor and recipient of our Caring Heart Award.

When Laura was nominated, her colleagues shared words that reflected the impact she has on the people around her: thoughtful, supportive, compassionate, and encouraging.

For Laura, caring is rooted in kindness, empathy, and treating others the way we would want to be treated. It’s taking the time to see the person beyond the work and remembering that we’re all human, with lives, families, and stories beyond the office.

Sometimes, a little kindness, a genuine smile, or simply taking the time to know someone can mean more than we realize. 🫶

Meet Armand! 👋

We’re excited to welcome Armand Pigeon to our Irvine team as a Staff Auditor!

A UC San Diego / UCSD graduate, Armand joins Davis Farr with previous experience working in county and city government and is excited to continue building his career with our team.

Outside of work, you’ll find him playing soccer, backpacking, skiing, traveling, or preparing for his first marathon next year🏃‍♂️⛷️⚽️

He’s also working toward completing his CPA exams, and we’ll be cheering him on every step of the way with plenty of support from his Davis Farr team 📚

We’re excited to have Armand on the team and look forward to seeing where this next chapter takes him!

A few moments from a season that always leaves us feeling inspired 🙌

Every year, Meet the Firms reminds us why we love connecting with the next generation of accounting professionals. There’s something special about meeting students who are just beginning to imagine what their careers could look like, hearing their questions, learning about their aspirations, and feeling the excitement they bring with them.

Their fresh perspectives and enthusiasm are a wonderful reminder that the future of our profession is in good hands. And maybe most importantly, they remind us that one day, it will be our turn to light the next torch🕯️

We’re grateful for every conversation, every introduction, and every connection we made this fall. We’re already looking forward to doing it all again at Spring Meet the Firms! 🤝✨

The paper includes a case study from the City of Newport Beach, showing how a carefully developed approach to materiality for GASB 87 leases helped reduce recurring workload while maintaining appropriate financial reporting and audit considerations.
