Some of the best moments of a wedding day happen long before anyone walks down the aisle.

The dressing room becomes a little world of its own. Coffee cups, happy tears, music playing, last-minute lipstick touch-ups, mums fastening buttons, bridesmaids fixing veils, flower girls twirling, and that one friend keeping everyone laughing.

It's where the nerves settle, the excitement builds, and the memories begin.

🇬🇧 A little change of scenery...

Today I'm swapping North Carolina for England for a few days to spend some precious time with family and friends.

The first half of the year has flown by, and I'm taking this little mid-year pause to slow down, enjoy family time, and come back refreshed for everything ahead at English Country Barn.

I'll be keeping an eye on messages, but replies may be a little slower than usual while I'm away.

.....who helps themselves to flowers

Annie has seen hundreds of weddings, so she clearly felt qualified to inspect the groom's boutonnière. Unfortunately, her inspection turned into lunch.

One quick sniff, one cheeky nibble, and it was gone before anyone could stop her.

Thankfully, our groom was an excellent sport about her antics

Summer in North Carolina doesn't hold back... and neither do we.

Today is my birthday.

And whilst I love the idea of slowing things down… I should probably clarify that I don’t mean me.

I’m still the person who thinks working outside for hours, riding horses, walking three dogs, and generally keeping myself busy sounds like a good time. Sitting still has never really been my speciality.

But I do believe we should slow down the moments that matter.

Which is exactly why I’m such a believer in three-day wedding weekends. Not because we need more time for the sake of it, but because the best memories are often found in the moments between the planned ones.

The conversations, the laughter, the unexpected moments, and the time spent simply being together.

That’s what inspired my latest blog about why a wedding weekend can be so much more than just a wedding day.

Now I’m off to celebrate another year of doing what I love. 🎉
