Here are some tips to be successful as a new tax professional this tax season:

1. Stay organized: Keeping track of important documents, client information, and deadlines is crucial. Use digital tools or software to help streamline your workflow and stay on top of everything.

2. Stay updated with tax laws: Tax laws and regulations are constantly evolving. Make sure to stay informed about any changes and updates to ensure accurate and compliant tax preparation.

3. Build strong client relationships: Effective communication and building trust with your clients is key. Take the time to understand their specific needs, answer their questions promptly, and provide clear explanations throughout the process.

4. Develop a checklist: Create a comprehensive checklist that outlines all the necessary steps for tax preparation. This will help you stay organized and ensure you don't miss any important details.

5. Take advantage of technology: Utilize tax software and online resources to simplify your workload. These tools can automate calculations, organize data, and generate reports, saving you time and reducing errors.

6. Focus on continuing education: Tax laws and regulations are complex, so it's essential to stay ahead of the game. Invest in ongoing education and professional development to enhance your expertise and stay up to date with industry best practices.

7. Collaborate with colleagues or mentors: Networking with experienced tax professionals can provide valuable insights and guidance. Join professional organizations or attend industry events to connect with peers who can offer advice or mentorship.

8. Manage your time effectively: Tax season can be demanding, so it's important to prioritize and manage your time wisely. Set realistic goals, create a schedule, and allocate sufficient time for each client to ensure accuracy and avoid burnout.

9. Double-check your work: Attention to detail is crucial in tax preparation. Always review your work thoroughly to minimize errors and ensure accuracy. Consider having a colleague review your work as well to provide an additional layer of quality control.

10. Stay customer-oriented: Your clients are the heart of your business. Strive to provide excellent customer service, go the extra mile, and be responsive to their needs and concerns. Happy clients are more likely to refer others to your services.

Remember, tax season can be challenging, but with the right approach, you can be a successful tax professional. Good luck, and I'm here to assist you with any further questions or guidance you may need!

Trusts don’t pay taxes 💎💎💎

If your preparer is charging you based off of the amount of money you get back…..RUN!!

Also, please stop glorifying basic tax returns.

If someone’s:

🔹 AGI is around 30k-40k or less
🔹 HOH designation
🔹 With 1 or more dependent
🔹 Paid a decent amount into federal and state taxes
🔹AND/OR had dependent care expenses

Then you are more than likely getting money back, shoot you can potentially file exempt and still get money back.

PLEASE UNDERSTAND THAT THIS IS NORMAL.

You are almost guaranteed a refund from your credits. EITC, CTC, DCC

Yes the dependent care credit is still available (DCC).

Tax Tip Tuesday

Please remember...
👉🏾Applying for the advance/loan, means the tax return is being transmitted to the IRS.
👉🏾Applying for the advance/loan, means the tax return CANNOT be pulled back. It is gone.
👉🏾Applying for the advance/loan, means the client CANNOT go anywhere else to get an advance.
👉🏾Applying for the advance/loan, means if the client is denied, the return CANNOT be pulled. The return is gone.
👉🏾Applying for the advance IS filing your taxes.

Reminder:
Open and not Trash your IRS envelopes.
Save the IP PINS! They are needed for filing purposes!

📌 Preparers

If an IRS agent pops up at your place of business (or home if you're a home-based business) asking to see your files, DO NOT GIVE THEM YOUR FILES, AND DO NOT ANSWER ANY QUESTIONS ABOUT YOUR CLIENTS. You work for the client NOT the IRS. Inform them that your attorney will be in touch (If you don't have a tax attorney at that point, HIRE ONE), exchange business cards, and send them on their way.

Due to the 1099K's that will be distributed from third party payment processors you will HAVE to claim all income received from third parties from business accounts.

1099K's are not just distributed to you but also sent to the IRS via the third party payment processor meaning before you even file your taxes, or even after, the IRS already knows how much money you made from these payment processors.

Which means if you have a PayPal, CashApp, Venmo, Stripe, Square, etc for your business and you've made over $600 in each of them then you will receive a 1099K from each of them.
