Whatever section you choose, make the decision and get studying!🤓📚

For me, I started with FAR because it was the biggest and most intimidating section. I thought, “If I can’t pass FAR, I can’t pass the CPA Exam.” I felt like I could pass the other sections, but then I’d be left with FAR and never actually become a CPA. So I decided to tackle FAR first.

Some people like to start with an easy win—the section they think they can pass the fastest.

The one recommendation I would make is this:

If you plan to take TCP, I suggest taking it after REG.

I have seen a lot of success with candidates taking TCP after REG, and not as much success with candidates taking TCP before REG.

The main thing is that you choose your first section for reasons that make sense to you.

Maybe it’s the section that interests you the most.

Maybe it’s the hardest section and you want to get it out of the way.

Maybe it’s the section you think will be the easiest to pass.

There isn’t a right section to start with.

What I do see is candidates spending so much time trying to figure out the “right” place to start that they never actually get started.

So, make the best decision you can for you, for reasons you like.

Then get started.

I meet with so many candidates who struggle to get out of their own way.
