You may love the way I coach you through CPA Exam prep.

Or you may decide Iโ€™m not for you.

๐Ÿ”ฅ Because Iโ€™m not going to automatically tell you to study more, sacrifice more, or give the CPA Exam more of your life.

Iโ€™m going to help you figure out what is actually working, what isnโ€™t, and what needs to change.

Iโ€™m going to ask you to look at what youโ€™re actually doingโ€”not just what you intended to do.

Iโ€™m going to remind you that your scores are information.

Iโ€™m going to help you build a study system around your life instead of expecting your life to revolve around studying.

And when youโ€™re waiting to feel completely ready, Iโ€™m going to help you look at the evidence and decide whether you are actually exam ready.

๐Ÿ’— My goal is not to make CPA Exam prep harder.

Itโ€™s to help you prepare more effectively, use your time intentionally, trust yourself more, and keep moving toward the CPA Exam finish line.

Because becoming a CPA matters.

But so does your life while youโ€™re becoming one.

โœจ If this is the kind of CPA Exam support youโ€™ve been looking for, follow along.

Trying desperately to pass the CPA Exam can put your attention on the one thing you cannot control today: the final score.

Of course you want to pass.

But โ€œpass the CPA Examโ€ is not an action you can take today.

Hereโ€™s what to focus on instead:

1๏ธโƒฃ STUDY

Sit down for the study session you planned.

You do not need to solve the entire CPA Exam today. You only need to work on what is in front of you.

2๏ธโƒฃ PRACTICE

Work through MCQs and SIMs.

This is where you strengthen your ability to recall, apply, and use what you are learning.

3๏ธโƒฃ REVIEW

Look at what you missed.

Do not just move on. Figure out what the question is showing you that you still need to understand or practice.

4๏ธโƒฃ ASSESS

Pay attention to what is working and what is not.

Your study time, practice scores, missed questions, and progress are all information you can use.

5๏ธโƒฃ ADJUST

Use that information to decide what needs to change.

Maybe you need more practice.
Maybe you need to revisit a topic.
Maybe you need to change how you are using your study time.

6๏ธโƒฃ KEEP SHOWING UP

Then come back and do it again.

These are the actions that create the passing score.

So instead of sitting down to study thinking:

โ€œI HAVE to pass.โ€

Ask yourself:

โ€œWhat do I need to do TODAY to move toward a passing score?โ€

That is where your power is.

๐ŸŽ™๏ธ In Episode 46 of the CPA Exam Success Podcast, I help you shift your focus away from desperately trying to pass and back to the specific actions that actually get you thereโ€”all in just 14 minutes.

๐Ÿ’ฌ Comment โ€œ46โ€ and Iโ€™ll send you the link to listen.

If youโ€™re looking at this timeline thinking, โ€œThat sounds great for someone else, but Iโ€™m not sure that could be meโ€ โ€” I understand.

I didnโ€™t believe it either.

When I started studying, even though I had the accounting hours I needed from less than two years of accounting education, I still identified much more as a French teacher than as an accountant.

Becoming a CPA still felt like a very big leap.

And I definitely could not look ahead and confidently say, โ€œYes. Iโ€™m going to pass all four sections.โ€

I just started studying.

Then I kept going.

And over time, I knew more.

I could answer questions I couldnโ€™t answer before.

I started figuring out how I needed to study.

I saw proof that I was improving.

And little by little, the idea of actually passing stopped feeling so impossible.

Youโ€™re looking at your CPA Exam future with the knowledge, experience, and confidence you have TODAY.

But you wonโ€™t be the same candidate 30 days from now.

Or 90 days from now.

Or 6 months from now.

Not if you keep studying, practicing, learning, adjusting, and moving forward.

That version of you will know more.

That version of you will have more experience.

That version of you will have evidence you donโ€™t have yet.

I didnโ€™t start with certainty.

I started with action.

The belief came later.

So if becoming a CPA still feels far away right now, donโ€™t let todayโ€™s version of you decide what your Future CPA self will be capable of.

Give yourself the chance to find out.

Youโ€™re already investing the study time. Make sure youโ€™re getting the return on that time investment.

Every CPA Exam study session gives you more than the material you learned or the questions you practiced.

It also gives you information about how YOU study best.

But if you finish studying and immediately move on with your day, you can miss that information.

You can study for weeks doing something that isnโ€™t working well simply because you never stopped long enough to notice it.

Thatโ€™s why I want you to spend 2โ€“3 minutes after every study session assessing what just happened.

Ask yourself:

1๏ธโƒฃ What went well?

What helped you focus, understand, remember, or get through the work effectively?

2๏ธโƒฃ What didnโ€™t work?

Where did you lose time? What distracted you? What took longer than expected? What wasnโ€™t helping you learn?

3๏ธโƒฃ What do I want to do differently next time?

This is where the value of the Assessment really comes in.

You take what you just learned about yourself and your studying and use it to improve the next session.

Thatโ€™s how you get a better return on the study time youโ€™re already investing.

Something needs to change!

And it doesnโ€™t have to be stressful or complicated ๐Ÿ˜…

Start by looking at your preparation differently.

1๏ธโƒฃ Stop measuring your preparation by how hard youโ€™re working.

Hours studied matter.

Effort matters.

But neither one tells you whether your studying is actually moving you toward a passing score.

The question is: Is what Iโ€™m doing working?

2๏ธโƒฃ Look at what your study time is actually producing.

Are you remembering more?

Are you understanding more?

Are you getting better at applying what you know?

Are you improving at MCQs and SIMs?

Are you becoming more exam ready?

Your effort should be producing progress.

3๏ธโƒฃ Identify what is NOT working.

Maybe youโ€™re spending too much time watching lectures.

Maybe youโ€™re taking pages and pages of notes.

Maybe youโ€™re answering questions without learning enough from the ones you miss.

Maybe youโ€™re repeating the same study process that hasnโ€™t worked before.

You do not need to judge yourself for any of it.

You need to see it clearly enough to change it.

4๏ธโƒฃ Be willing to give up what isnโ€™t working.

This is where candidates can get stuck.

You have invested so much time and effort into the way youโ€™re studying that changing it can feel wrong.

But continuing to do more of something that is not producing the result you want does not make the time you already spent more valuable.

Ask yourself:

Am I willing to give up what isnโ€™t working for what will?

5๏ธโƒฃ Make your preparation work FOR you.

You may be surprised by what happens when you stop trying to make CPA Exam preparation harder than it needs to be.

Studying becomes simpler.

Your time is used more effectively.

You know what youโ€™re trying to accomplish when you sit down.

You can see your progress.

And instead of putting in enormous effort only to end the day discouraged, your effort starts giving you evidence that you are moving forward.

That is what I want for you.

Not less commitment.

Not less effort.

Better-directed effort.

You do not need to work harder.

You need your hard work to work.

What does consistency really mean?

The dictionary defines consistency as the quality of behaving or performing in a similar way over time.

Read that again:

In a similar way. Over time.

It doesnโ€™t say every day.

It doesnโ€™t say for the same number of hours.

It doesnโ€™t say at the same time or on the exact same schedule every week.

The definition is actually pretty flexible.

โ€œOver timeโ€ could mean every day.
It could mean 5 days a week.
It could mean 10 hours each week.
It could mean showing up for the specific study sessions you committed to, even when those sessions look different from one week to the next.

And I think a lot of CPA Exam candidates miss this.

You may have been telling yourself, โ€œIโ€™m not consistent,โ€ when really, youโ€™ve just been holding yourself to one very specific definition of what consistency is supposed to look like.

You may already be more consistent than you think.

Or maybe consistency has felt so difficult because you thought it required you to study every day, for a certain number of hours, no matter what.

It doesnโ€™t.

You get to define what consistency means for you.

Be flexible in how you define consistency so you can be rigid in honoring your study commitment.

So finish this sentence:

For me, studying consistently means ____________________.

Give yourself a definition you can actually honor.

Then keep that commitment to yourself.
