This was one of most well curated, labeled, and laid out gardens I've ever been to. This last post of 3 shows the lake and river areas, and various garden paths.

This was one of most well curated, labeled, and laid out gardens I've ever been to. Big rose garden that luckily was mostly in bloom when we visited.

This was the first time I've had casoncelli, sort of like a different shaped ravioli. It was divine with lobster and a brown butter sauce, I ended up using some bread to get as much of the sauce as I could. The burata with crisp brocollini was delicious too. We were in a big group so shared a pinchbowl cocktail that was beautifully presented. Must go back to try more since they make all their breads in house, including the pizza dough.

One of the things I care about most is making sure technology empowers professionals—not replaces their judgment. AI has the potential to do that. But only if we focus on the right things.

Not just efficiency. Not just automation. But better thinking, better decisions, and better outcomes for the people we serve.

That’s the perspective I’ll be sharing in this upcoming session on AI skills that are built to last.

If AI feels a little chaotic right now, you’re not alone. A lot of what’s being shared is:

• Tool demos
• Prompt tricks
• One-off use cases

What’s often missing is a framework for how to think about AI as a professional skillset. That’s the lens I’ll be bringing to this session. Because without that, it’s easy to stay busy with AI… without actually moving forward.

Most conversations about AI in accounting are focused on tools. That’s the wrong focus. Tools will change. Rapidly. Constantly. Sometimes weekly.

What doesn’t change is your ability to:
• Ask better questions
• Apply professional judgment
• Translate outputs into decisions clients can act on

That’s where I believe the real opportunity is right now.

I’ll be digging into the AI skills that actually last in an upcoming session—especially for professionals who don’t want to chase every new tool, but do want to stay relevant.

Honored to be named to the Forbes Best-in-State CPA list for 2026.
Grateful for the opportunity to work with incredible clients, colleagues, and organizations—and to keep pushing the profession forward.
There’s still a lot of work to do as we unify the profession in Hawaii.

Korean style Japanese food... Interesting concept. This ended up being quite good. Left is a Kim Chee udon that basically tasted like Kim Chee jigae (stew) with udon noodles. Very flavorful and the noodles were perfectly chewy. The pork katsu was crisp and juicy. Definitely want to go back and try more of thir dishes.
