The Asian Gardens were really an Asian forest with some flowering shrubs interspersed. Many of the trees were towering above (see one of the videos) but there were some interesting ones that were growing on or around old stumps too. Forest bathing was quite rejuvenating and needed after the past few months.

I spent two hours at this museum and didn't even get to see everything. This was definitely the most impressive collection of native people's art and culture that I've seen. Lots of explanations of the progression of colonialism and some of the efforts to reclaim heritage now. Could see a lot of parallels to what was done to the Hawaiians and the evils perpetuated by Christianity.

A walk through these gardens this afternoon was just what I needed after the past few weeks. Very weel curated yet natural feeling paths and side paths made 3 miles feel like just a 'walk in the park'. Brilliant flowers, alone and in layers, complemented by forest-like paths, small streams, big ponds, and some well placed benches and statues made this somewhere I could spend an entire day.
