Starting July 1, the standard mileage rate went UP to 76 cents per mile (it was 72.5 cents for the first half of the year). The IRS made a rare mid-year adjustment because of gas prices.
If you're a mobile lash tech, traveling MUA, or a booth renter driving to supply runs, classes, or client appointments — those miles add up FAST. 1,000 business miles in the second half of the year = a $760 deduction. 💅
But here's the catch most people will miss: 2026 has TWO rates.
✨ Jan 1 – June 30 → 72.5¢/mile
✨ July 1 – Dec 31 → 76¢/mile
That means your mileage log needs DATES, not just totals. "I drove about 5,000 miles this year" won't cut it — you (or your tax pro) need to know which half of the year those miles happened in.
Not tracking your miles yet? Today's a great day to start. Even a simple app or notes entry with the date, miles, and purpose will save you real money in April.
