USA Memorial Day holds special meaning for my family. Our family story is not unique. My first cousin died in USA military action while I was a child. Being young, I didn’t completely understand death but fully understood our family suffered an ongoing deep sadness.

Many USA families will remember a son or daughter on Monday.

As our country pauses to honor those who gave their lives in service to our nation, our family also remembers another deeply personal milestone, the anniversary of my father’s passing following a long cancer battle. Remarkably, he died on the same date as his own father, 50 years later.

While Memorial Day is about honoring USA military sacrifice, I am reminded of the many legacies we inherit from our family. I’m incredibly grateful for our nation's legacy of freedom, secured by those who served. I’m just as grateful for the legacy my father left, a WW II veteran. He believed in education, working hard, generosity, and shared his deep love for family & community.

Financial support is one form of inheritance which leads to freedom of financial choices. However, the values, lessons, and love we pass on matter just as much, too. My Daddy lived. He led by example, gave of his time, talents, connections & assets, and most of all - he loved fiercely. The “dash” between his date of birth and date of death is full.

I am honored to carry his legacy with me every day.

Cousins are often our first friends. Our first relationships with others outside our immediate family – our parents & siblings.

My husband’s first cousin recently passed away leaving a gap in a lifelong relationship. We visited & traveled together often over the decades including sailing ⛵️ & sightseeing, especially at the beach. Because of growing up together, their relationship was more like brothers.

As we joined a standing room only gathering of family & friends for his Memorial Service, I reflected on the importance of our behavior during the “Dash”.

One small character “-“ of a “Dash” between our date of birth and date of death.

He experienced almost 80 years of mornings, noons & nights. Life highs & life lows. Eight decades of opportunities to “Do Good” for family, friends & community. And, 29,200 days to grow savings for financial success.

If on his day of birth, $10,000 had been placed in an account earning a conservative 3% annual interest, compounded the account balance would have grown to $106,000+ now.

• That account balance would have doubled every 24 years

• More than three doublings over 72 years

+++The quiet POWER OF TIME in action 💰receiving help from the compound effect of earning interest on your earned interest 🤔

+++Eight decades does a lot of work Growing Money💰

We may not know how many years of our lives will be our “dash.”

However, being good financial stewards during our “dash” makes a world of difference in how you experience life. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

What a way to close out my 2026 Women’s History Month!

Monday, March 30th, my husband Ron Grove & I had the privilege of attending Auburn University’s *America 250* kickoff.

We were not disappointed!

The patriotic event held in Auburn University’s world class Jay and Susie Gogue Performing Arts Center at Auburn University highlight was a moderated conversation between Secretary Condoleezza
Rice, our 66th U.S. Secretary of State and former National Security Advisor, and Margaret Hoover, host of “Firing Line”and CNN political contributor.

The evening was the perfect way to celebrate Women’s History Month wrapping up for 2026.

*Two extraordinary women.

*One powerful conversation about leadership, citizenship, and the future of democracy.

Secretary Rice said it best:

“Democracy is the work of everyday…. If democracies are going to survive, thrive and get better, we all have a role to play in it.” - Sec. Condoleezza Rice, as quoted in The Auburn Plainsman , March 30, 2026

Our Founding Fathers & visionaries of the Institutions leading our Nation including the checks & balances, scheduled elections & term limits have stood the tests of 250 years.

America 250 at Auburn University is a year long series celebrating the nation’s 250th anniversary through civic dialogue, history, and public engagement. If this kick off event is any indication, the rest of the series will continue the USA celebration in style. More information at the link in my first comment.

I am grateful for our freedoms to safely travel to hear live conversations of National leaders & for our Freedom of Speech to express our beliefs. 🙏

🦅 War Eagle! 🧡💙

🍀 March 17th was all about luck.
💰 Today -> It is time for reality on your financial success strategy.

“Luck is what happens when preparation meets opportunity.”
-Lucius Annaeus Seneca, 🏛️Roman Philosopher

I say:

“Stop hoping you will get lucky. Start Telling Your Money Where To Go for Financial Success”

St. Patrick’s Day is four-leaf clovers, lucky breaks, and “maybe this will be my year.”

When it comes to your finances… I say getting lucky is a terrible business plan!

Because “getting lucky” with money often involves:
• Hoping revenue shows up
• Crossing your fingers at tax time
• Guessing instead of knowing

Exhausting. Stressful. 😫Chaotic. Out of Control.

Here is the shift I work with successful business owners make:

They move from Cash Crunches → Cash Clarity

✨ From reacting… to directing
✨ From uncertainty… to intentional decisions
✨ From “I hope this works” to “I know my numbers”

Clarity is NOT complicated.

It is deliberate. Visible.

Know 🧐 Your:
• Money In
• Money Out
• Money YOU keep
No leprechauns ☘️ needed.

If you are still waiting on luck to improve your financial future…
this is your nudge:

👉 Trade luck for financial leadership.
👉 Trade guessing for cash clarity.
👉 Trade stress for control.

Because your cash 💰 financial success story is too important for YOU to leave to chance.

AI -> ChatGPT

A complicated question is typed in and ChatGPT will give you an amazingly lifelike most-of-the-time accurate answer. (As accurate as information on Internet can be). FAST!

The topic of artificial intelligence (AI) has been in the news especially starting when I first shared a ChatGPT blog post in 2023. When I was on rotation in the KPMG New York Executive Office, Artificial Intelligence models were being developed.

Fast forward to the 2020s, AI is in the news daily with one of the reasons is the launch of the AI chatbot called ChatGPT.

The GPT in ChatGPT stands for generative pre-trained transformer, which is a program that can realistically write like a human and interact in a conversational way.

ChatGPT was launched in November 2022 and developed by OpenAI, an AI research lab tasked with developing friendly AI.

Today ChatGPT continues to be offered at no cost, but paid versions are also available.

You can get access here: chatgpt.com

-> Set up an account to save your sessions.

Once you do, the prompt is simple.

Just ask a question.

Here is a sample answer to the question, “What are debits and credits?”

ChatGPT: “Debits and credits are terms used in accounting to describe the money movement into or out of an account. In accounting, every transaction involves at least two accounts, and each account is either debited or credited.”

It can answer these questions:

• What are pros and cons of different SMB accounting packages including their monthly subscriptions?
• Write an engagement letter for a cash flow management consultation project for a $35 million revenue service company
• Plan a seven day trip to Salt Lake, Utah with visits to nearby National Parks and the Salt Lake

There is a disclaimer in place that ChatGPT will occasionally generate wrong answers.

It did generate an inaccurate answer when I asked a very complex tax question to see what happened.

I highly recommend verification to the source documents which ChatGPT references in the response.📖

It saves time by writing initial drafts of letters, policies, speeches, social media post, and other correspondence.

It saves time on research and data analysis but again verify the answers.

Use it for fun or for a second opinion.

* ChatGPT is a touch verbose at times - like that relative that monopolizes family dinner conversations 🧐. I often use the word “concise” in my request.

During the January ice storm – I asked ChatGPT for recipes for Mexican Soup. It offered five options and I made the one that I had the ingredients on hand. It was delicious.

I also tried my hand at the caricature option after unloading my headshot. See the result below 👇

How are you using ChatGPT in business & personally?
