Memorial Day is an incredibly important day here at ABS. Enjoy the extra time with your family or friends at the beach or at the lake or cabin. You deserve it. But please take a minute to pause and remember those who were taken too soon in service of something they saw as bigger than themselves. And take a moment to remember the wives and parents and husbands and children they left behind.

All gave some, some gave all. Today we remember those that didn’t come home. 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸

Business tip Monday: When applying for business financing the bank is going to want to know more than just your revenues. Especially as an LLC or sole proprietor, it helps to have assets on the books with the company.

So, yes, pay yourself first, but if you are looking to expand your business, just like in your personal life, the bank wants to see some savings and/or assets as well as a good revenue stream. Cash is king. So keep some in the business bank account. Welcome the first “Tax Tip Tuesday”!

These will be mostly geared to the small business owner/self employed individual but many of these will apply to individuals who file a W-2 as well.

Today’s tip: make sure you claim the Self-Employed Health insurance deduction.

Being self employed can be pricey when it comes to taxes. These can be offset by the setup of your LLC or partnership, but taking every deduction you can on your taxable income is vital. And this is a big one.

You may be able to deduct 100% of premiums paid during the year for health insurance for you, your spouse and any dependent under 27 years of age. Covered premiums include medical insurance, long term care coverage and Medicare premiums. This can have a major impact on your reportable and taxable income and depending on the size of your family could save you thousands of dollars in taxes.

Been thinking about this a long time. But I’m taking the leap and starting my own practice. This is the formal announcement.

I can also do some higher end cash flow/business analysis for you if you have good revenues but you just can’t figure out where the cash is going.
