🐿️⚡10:25pm Update: The lights are back on!

Despite repeated warnings from absolutely no one, a very determined squirrel tried to find shelter from the thunderstorm in the worst possible place - in the electrical equipment.

A reminder to all woodland residents: Trees make much better storm shelters than transformers! 🌳

Thanks, everyone, for your patience, and thanks to the crews for their quick response and working in the storm & rain. ⛈️💡

8:00pm Update: A crew member is on scene and is waiting for additional crews to arrive to repair the issue. A rough estimate they are telling us is 2-3 hours from 8pm before power may be restored. Check back for more updates.

🎆REMINDER: City Hall will be closed Friday, July 3, 2026, and there will be no trash pickup as we take time to celebrate the 4th of July, the 250th anniversary of American independence, and the moment our founders signed the Declaration of Independence back in 1776.🎆
Wishing everyone a safe and festive holiday weekend!🗽

It’s International Joke Day… but this announcement is no joke!

Did you know the City of Readlyn has its very own utility emergency hotline for those “uh‑oh” moments when the lights go out, the water stops running, or the sewer decides to misbehave? Well, now you do!

📞 Readlyn residents may call 319‑279‑3909 any time — 24 hours a day, 7 days a week — to report outages or any other utility emergencies.

Think of it as Readlyn’s superhero hotline… minus the cape, plus a whole lot of helpfulness. 🦸‍♂️⚡🚰💧

🗑Tripoli‑Readlyn Sanitation is taking Friday, July 3rd off to celebrate America’s birthday.🗽That means no trash pickup on Friday—your garbage gets a long weekend too.
They will return on their normal schedule and will be back in Readlyn on Tuesday, July 7th, ready to haul away your post-BBQ regrets. You can set out one extra bag (under 50 lbs.) next to your can on July 7th. If it weighs more than that, it’s no longer a bag—it’s a workout.🏋️‍♀️

🚲If you are still trying to figure out why you walked home from Grump Days🚶🏼‍♀️… we might have the answer. A lonely bicycle was found at Readlyn City Park and would love to reunite with its human. If this runaway ride belongs to you (or someone you know who’s been suspiciously walking everywhere), give Readlyn Police Department a call at 319-279-3999 or check in with Readlyn City Hall at 319-279-3411. We promise—no judgment! Grump Days makes us all act a little wild.🤪
