What a fantastic time we had this weekend at the Southern Choices of the Coast Golf Classic!

Samantha was on the True North Legacy Group team and stole the show with her amazing spirit and great golfing. She may have found her new sport!

Sam had a blast cheering her team on and the team was incredibly blessed by her enthusiasm and energy! I believe some new friendships were formed this weekend.

Meet Samantha 💙

Samantha was born with an encephalocele, or a very large hole in her skull. She’s been through a skull transplant, brain surgery and almost 20 other intense surgeries on her legs and spine. She’s overcome intense behavioral struggles and now is the friendliest barista in the South! She works for Bitty and Beau’s coffee shop and Java Joy - which are both employers of those with disabilities all over the country. She adores the Savannah Bananas and screams the loudest at their games! She does karate, bowling, tennis, pickleball and Special Olympics. She’s the most joyful girl and loves meeting new people!

I’m going to be honest… I (Nicky) hate posting stuff like this.

Because I never want people to feel like I’m just trying to sell something.

But if the choice is between a few eye rolls or possibly helping someone be financially prepared for one of the hardest moments of their life… I’ll take the eye rolls every time.

I used to say the same thing I hear from people all the time…

“I don’t need cancer insurance.”

No cancer in my family.
Healthy.
Had the best health insurance available (Tricare).
Got mammograms every year starting at 40.

At 46 years old, I was diagnosed with invasive breast cancer.

So when someone tells me:
• “I have great insurance.”
• “Cancer doesn’t run in my family.”
• “I’m healthy.”

I get it… because that was my story too.

What most people don’t realize is a cancer policy pays YOU directly when diagnosed with internal cancer — regardless of what your health insurance pays.

And the biggest cost for us wasn’t medical bills.

It was time.

My husband and I are self-employed, so when we weren’t working — we weren’t getting paid.

My passion for talking about this was just reignited when a friend who got a cancer policy through us recently found out she has internal cancer.

Her message to me was simple:

“I’m so thankful I have this policy.”

You never think it will happen to you.

Until it does.

We have been so blessed by this couple. I will always remember the first time they came into our office and I asked Boni to put some of their info down so we could better understand their situation. She said "I don't feel comfortable putting writing our information down". Well, this was a first, you never can be too carful. She totally caught me off guard, but I do understand. Now, we laugh about it ;)
