The IRS is changing how you adjust your paycheck withholdings, and it won’t be easy.

E-filing will start January 23rd. Most places will tell you that you can e-file before that date which is true, but will sit in limbo until the 23rd.

Due to the PATH Act change, the new law requires the IRS to hold the refund for any return claiming either the Earned Income Tax Credit or the Additional Child Tax Credit until Feb 15th. By law, the IRS must hold the entire refund, not just the portion related to the EITC or ACTC.

IRS lowers mileage rates for 2017

53.5 cents per mile for business miles driven, down from 54 cents in 2016

17 cents per mile driven for medical or moving purposes down from 19 cents for 2016

14 cents per mile driven in service of charitable organizations.

The business mileage rate decreased half a cent per mile and the medical and moving expense rates each dropped 2 cents per mile from 2016.

The Charitable rate is set by statute and remains unchanged.

Everyone should look at their pay stubs to make sure your taxes are being taking out correctly. Been finding a few already that we've been able to make changes to.

Getting ready for next tax season..... Lots of studying to do for all of my testing that I do once a year.
