Our program prepares returns for taxpayers eligible for the Earned Income Tax Credit, which routinely provides a meaningful benefit to working people. To make it work for more people, add your voice!

Americans who work full time should be able to make ends meet. The Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) is a common-sense tax break that helps workers who struggle to get by pay for the basics – like transportation to get to work and childcare. Congress is currently debating overhauls to the tax code. They should use this opportunity to expand the EITC. Learn more and take action. unitedway.co/2jXF0t7

Today is Earned Income Tax Credit Awareness Day!

Did you know that qualified filers see an average of $2,701.77 back in their pockets each year because of EITC? Beyond encouraging work, the EITC refund provides, millions of households an opportunity to catch up on bills, provide for their families and maybe even save for their future.

Texas directly benefits from the estimated 2,546,220 filersthat receive the credit each year. Estimates suggest that the credit may create local economic impacts equivalent to at least twice the amount of EITC dollars received.

To see if you qualify, come to a VITA site this tax season!
