One of our major partners, Catholic Charities, Archdiocese of San Antonio, Inc., is hosting an event called “Food from the Heart”. We are so humbled to be a co-sponsor of this event along with Nonprofit Financial Services and the additional support of Catholic Charities USA, The RK Group, San Antonio Food Bank, Goya Foods, and Gonzaba Medical Group. This event is an initiative to provide basic needs and to address food insecurity, especially for those who have been impacted during the Covid-19 pandemic. As a collective, 2,000 food bundles, diapers, and masks will be provided to support the most vulnerable, those who have lost their jobs, the homeless, and the food insecure populations throughout the city.

Potential tax benefit for parents who save for school expenses.

A tip from the IRS to parents: Do you know about the tax-advantaged ways you can save for education expenses? With a 529 plan you can put tax-free dollars toward paying for college in the future. And now, distributions from 529 plans can also be used to pay up to a total of $10,000 of tuition per beneficiary each year at an elementary or secondary (k-12) public, private or religious school.

Credit card debt is intimidating. There is no question about it. The average credit card debt per U.S household as of February 2019 was $8,316. San Antonio is no exception. In fact, this city has the highest credit card utilization in the country and low personal income is a factor. When financial emergencies arise that families are not prepared for, credit cards become easy to rely on even when a family is at a disadvantage. Unexpected emergencies, low income, and the desire to maintain an appearance beyond ones own personal means all contribute to the cause of credit card debt. In 2018, San Antonio was declared the worst city in the U.S for the burden of credit card debt. It takes approximately 22 months to pay off the average credit card balance of $7,070. Many people get deeper into financial trouble by putting off paying their debt instead of paying it off each month. This procrastination impacts your credit and makes it very difficult to find a loan for a car or a house. Sometimes it can make it impossible to even receive a loan at all. Does the problem of looming credit card debt sound familiar? Nonprofit Financial Services now offers a credit repair service. Our local nonprofit organization will provide you with a free consultation with a snapshot of your current credit. Our fees are performance based starting at $99 and $50 per item removed. Those of you whose credit is in bad shape, don't worry. We cap our fees at $500 which means you will only pay for 10 of the items we remove. We also offer a payment plan of 4 installments of $125. Our organization is committed to helping you achieve more.
