📣 Attention my Texas clients!!! 📣

The IRS is giving all Texas residents and businesses an additional two months to file their federal income taxes, citing the deadly winter storm that left millions without power and water. Texans will now have until June 15 to file their 2020 returns, instead of the regular deadline of April 15, the tax agency said on Monday.

The extension also includes any taxes that would have been owed by April 15, as well as any business returns that otherwise would have been due on March 15, the IRS said. Texans also will have until June 15 to make 2020 IRA contributions, the agency said.

📣 There has been a LOT of misinformation I have seen put out in various groups. Let me clear up a few things.

* No, you cannot use your AGI from 2019 for this years taxes. This is fraud.

* You 100% absolutely need to claim the unemployment you received. The IRS WILL come for you if you don't, and could potentially hold up your refund.

* No, you will not magically get another $4k from using form 7202 on your taxes. This credit is very specifically for 1099 and self employed people who were affected by covid.

* You NEED to claim whatever stimulus money you received. I've read where people are advising people not to. DON'T LISTEN. This is also considered fraud.

📣 PSA...It is VERY important you have your unemployment taxed. If you're expecting a large refund, but didn't have your unemployment taxed (and received a fairly large amount), it isn't happening this year. Some of you may even owe. PLEASE make sure its being taxed!!!

PATH Act Update (EARNED INCOME CREDIT): Refunds on filed tax returns that fall under the PATH Act will be released starting February 16, with anticipated refund deposit dates no earlier than February 27! No longer the 1st week of March!

I just received the notification that the IRS will officially start processing 2020 returns on Feb 12th. I will still e-file, and the return will be held in queue and transmitted to the IRS as soon as they open for receiving. For those of you claiming EITC and ACTC (PATH Act returns), they will start processing those the first week of March. The reason for the delay is to make sure the stimulus is sorted completely, so there is less chance of glitching. Remember, if need be, I am offering an advance through the bank. Please let me know ahead of time if you are interested in this.

📣 Another PSA.....IF you have not received your 2nd stimulus, do not worry! You WILL get it on your tax return, if you qualify. From what I've seen, your chance of getting it direct deposited, check or visa is 50/50. Please let me know if we will need to claim it on your tax return. 📣

I know there's been a lot of questions about the stimulus, and I know a lot of people have yet to receive it. If the status says "Not Available", you're more than likely going to need to apply for the rebate on your taxes. If you had a baby in 2020, you will get the rebate when you file - if you haven't received BOTH rebates for the baby, you may be entitled to the full $1100 when you file. YOU WILL NEED TO TELL ME that we need to apply for the stimulus. I'm attaching an informative link, and a screenshot. Please let me know if you have questions.

FYI, I am able to do EVERYTHING online, with ZERO in person contact, so everyone can stay safe during these strange times we are living in. You can email me all of your forms, along with a license (identity protection), and we can correspond via zoom, phone calls, and emails. Hello everyone!!! Tax season is upon us. There are a few changes this year, in regards to 1099 employees and those who are self employed. The IRS is rolling out the Families First Coronavirus Relief Act (FFCRA). The quick synopsis of this act is, if you were unable to work at any time due to the coronavirus, or if your kids could not attend school or daycare, you may be entitled to a credit up to $5k for sick leave, and up to $10k for family and medical leave credit. Whenever you email me, please let me know if these situations pertain to you! I'll get you taken care of!! Start getting your things together! I have a feeling this year is going to be a little bumpy, more so than last year.
