It’s February, and what better way to share the love than with a feel-good story all about dreams becoming reignited.

For Kent Broussard, his dream centered on music and football. As a young boy in 1968, he watched the Louisiana State University (LSU) marching band take the field and thought, “Someday, I want to be in that band.” Life ultimately took him down another path — family, career, decades as an accountant — but this dream lingered quietly in the background.

Now 66, Kent decided it was finally time to take the leap. He re-learned the tuba, trained to keep up with college students, and enrolled at LSU to chase the dream head-on. After months of dedication, Kent earned his spot, becoming the oldest member of the Golden Band from Tigerland by more than 40 years!

This February, his story reminds us it’s never too late to reignite a passion, revisit an old love, or chase a goal that’s been waiting patiently for its moment.

💘 Wedding budget ballpark: The average wedding costs about $33,000 in 2025, with the average cost-per-guest coming to $284.
💘Honeymoon spending: Over the past few years, the average cost of the honeymoon has lingered around $5,000, though the exact cost will depend on the destination and length of stay.

National College Financial Prep Week is the perfect time to review your college savings strategy. Here are a few points to consider:

✅A 529 Plan offers tax-advantaged growth and can be used for qualified education expenses like tuition, fees, and even some K–12 costs.

✅Recently, 529 plans were updated under the SECURE 2.0 act to include the ability to roll unused funds into a Roth IRA. However, there are several important limitations to be aware of.

✅ If a 529 plan isn’t right for you, you have other options like Coverdell ESAs or custodial accounts (UGMAs/UTMAs).

✅The best plan for you and your student depends on your goals, timeline, and tax picture.

Regardless of which plan you pick, you’ll want to start early, even with small contributions.

Regular contributions combined with compound growth can make a big impact on a college savings plan.

If you want to review your options, give us a call. We are here as a resource.

National College Financial Prep Week is here. It’s a perfect reminder for students and parents that it’s time to get your Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) application in if you haven’t already.

Here’s why it matters:

✅ The FAFSA is the gateway to federal grants, work-study programs, and federal student loans.
✅ Many states and colleges use FAFSA results to determine scholarship eligibility. It’s not just used for need-based aid; it is also considered for merit scholarships.
✅ Filing earlier (the FAFSA for 2026-2027 is open now) can help increase your chances of receiving the best aid package possible.

If you have questions about how student loans fit into your overall financial plan — or how they may affect your family’s long-term wealth management goals — we’d be glad to walk through the options with you. Give us a call anytime.

This Financial Wellness Month, we wanted to highlight an important component of your long-term financial health: retirement contributions.

You might think that contributing the full amount to your account each year is the best move, but that might not always be the case.

For some, maxing out their retirement accounts can improve their financial stability and boost the compound growth in their accounts. However, for others, focusing on maxing out retirement funds can make it harder to save for other important expenses or goals.

Your financial plan should be tailored to your life stage and long-term goals. We’re here to make sure that your retirement contribution strategy makes sense for your financial picture. If you have questions about your retirement accounts or your contribution strategy, give us a call. We’re here to help you achieve your goals.

To start the new year off with some positivity, we’re sharing a heartwarming story from Victoria, Australia, where a golden retriever named Denni surprised her owner by offering an unlikely ride to a baby koala.

Upon hearing some commotion in the yard, Denni’s owner, Steve, stepped outside to find the young joey clinging to Denni’s back, perfectly content. It’s believed the koala had fallen from a nearby tree, and Denni instinctively offered comfort and support.

After a brief adventure around the backyard, Steve carefully returned the baby to a nearby tree, where its mother later came back to retrieve it. A simple gesture from one animal to another, but one that continues to bring smiles around the world.
