Questions to ask before hiring a bookkeeper…
If you’re thinking about hiring a bookkeeper, it’s worth asking a few questions before getting started!
Here are five things I’d recommend asking:
1. What exactly is included in your services?
Make sure you understand what’s covered and whether you need any additional support.
2. How often will my books be updated?
Consistent bookkeeping helps you stay organized and avoid the last-minute scramble at tax time.
3. How will we communicate?
You should feel comfortable asking questions and know how to reach your bookkeeper when you need help.
4. What happens if my books are behind?
If you’re months behind, don’t be afraid to ask! Find out whether they can help get everything caught up and organized.
5. Will you help me understand my financial reports?
Your reports should do more than sit in a folder. You should be able to understand what the numbers mean and how they relate to your business.
My biggest piece of advice? Find a bookkeeper who not only keeps your books organized but also takes the time to help you feel confident about your numbers.
Bookkeeping should make running your business a little easier—not leave you with more questions than answers.
