Think Social Security is suddenly tax-free because of the One Big Beautiful Bill? Not quite.

The bill doesn’t eliminate taxes on benefits. It does offer a $6,000 deduction for eligible seniors, which can lower your taxable income but isn’t the same as full exemption.

Are the OBBBA provisions permanent or not?

Some provisions are permanent, think lower individual rates and bonus depreciation. But many perks like the no-tax-on-tips rule, the no-tax-on-overtime treatment, and the increase to the state and local tax (SALT) deduction are set to expire in 2028.
