📢 IMPORTANT MARYLAND TAX REFUND UPDATE 📢

Tax Wealth Associates Inc. wants to keep our clients informed regarding the current delays with Maryland state tax refunds.

The Comptroller of Maryland is currently completing a major modernization of its tax processing system and transitioning individual taxpayers to the new Maryland Tax Connect system.

During this transition, Maryland has advised that tax return and refund processing may be delayed while taxpayer records are being migrated to the new system.

✨ What does this mean for you?

If your Maryland return has already been filed and accepted, there is no need to refile your return simply because you have not received your refund yet.

Once your return has been accepted, Tax Wealth Associates Inc. does not control the processing or release of your Maryland refund. That process is handled directly by the Comptroller of Maryland.

The new Maryland Tax Connect system is scheduled to go live for individual taxpayers on September 1, 2026.

⚠️ PLEASE DO NOT FILE A SECOND RETURN because your refund is taking longer than expected. This could cause additional processing issues.

If you receive a letter or notice from the State of Maryland requesting additional information regarding your return, please forward it to our office for review.

We know many of our clients are waiting patiently for their refunds, and we will continue to keep you updated as information becomes available.

One of the biggest mistakes I see new business owners make is forming an LLC but continuing to operate everything through their personal bank account.

Creating an LLC is an important first step, but it’s only one part of protecting your business. To help preserve the legal separation between you and your personal assets, your business should have its own dedicated bank account and financial records.
