📝 Tax Tip Myth:
- Worried you wouldn't be able to file your dependent on your tax return due to them getting a job?
-NO WORRIES!! Let me break it down for you and show you how you still can. 😅😂

If you’re a dependent student and earned less than $15,750 in 2025, you’re not required to file.

-BUT...if your employer withheld taxes, you’re probably owed a refund. 💰
- Also, if you had unearned income (like interest or dividends) over $1,300, or a mix of earned and unearned income, you may still need to file.

🔍 Filing Rules for Minors Claimed as Dependents:**
1. If a minor is required to file a tax return (due to earned or unearned income) and is also claimed as a dependent on someone else’s return (usually a parent or guardian), then:
✅ Both tax returns must reflect the dependent status correctly for e-filing to work.
- The minor's return must check the box: "Can be claimed as a dependent on another person's return."
- The parent/guardian's return must actually claim the minor as a dependent.

This ensures the IRS systems match both returns and allows successful e-filing for the current tax year.

📌 Why This Matters:
- If the minor forgets to check the box, their return may be rejected or flagged.
- If the parent claims the child but the child's return doesn’t reflect it, it can cause processing delays or audit triggers.
