To all my business owners offering **tax, bookkeeping, financial, credit, consulting, and other professional services**…
You’re asking people to trust you with their personal information, their money, their businesses, and sometimes their livelihood.
You’re giving them advice and direction on how to **fix their stuff…while your own stuff is raggedy.**
**Make that make sense. 🧐**
At some point, we have to stop hiding behind the business name, the logo, the certifications, the social media posts, and the title of “CEO” and start talking about **INTEGRITY.**
You know you owe the IRS and you’re dodging them…but you're telling clients to get compliant.
You know you haven't filed your own taxes in years…but you're preparing everybody else's.
You don't do your own books, don't have a bookkeeping system in place, and couldn't tell somebody your own profit and loss…but you're running a bookkeeping business.
**STOP IT.**
And before somebody gets offended—this isn't about being perfect.
It's about **practicing what you preach.**
If we're going to tell our clients to get organized, get compliant, clean up their books, handle their taxes, manage their money, and operate like a legitimate business…
**WE HAVE TO HOLD OURSELVES TO THAT SAME STANDARD.**
Hold yourself accountable.
Get your house in order.
Or, like the old folks used to say:
**“Sweep around your own front door before you try to sweep around mine.”** 🧹
Your clients deserve to do business with someone who isn't just knowledgeable—but someone who **operates in integrity.**
And sometimes integrity looks like admitting:
**“I need to get MY stuff together too.”**
There. I said it. 🤷🏽♀️
