2026

What a beautiful start to the year and the current view from the office.

A lovely time was had over the festive season. Some time was spent refelecting and setting goals.

What goals have you set? Personal, financial or other?

Personal for me:
Drink less and eat better
Invest in myself
Improve on my work life balance

Financial for me:
Grow my business by 20%
Invest in my business
Continue to invest and work on my financial plan and end goal

It is just one of the ways that I help my clients.

Some clients spoke to me, as they had made a difficult decision to pull out of buying a property, based upon findings from the valuation.

They had an offer accepted on a new property last week. I submitted a new mortgage application for them on their new property on Monday, 14th July. Just 2 days later, today, the mortgage is at offer stage. Absolutely phenomenal speed and a big shout out to HSBC and the mortgage team.

My clients are back on track now and just to navigate the conveyancing, to get the keys to their new home.

I wanted to be transparent and make you aware of a small change to my business.

Since moving to Shropshire in 2021, I wanted to align my business name with this wonderful county. You may be aware that Salop, is an older, shortened name for the county of Shropshire, particularly used in postal addresses or historical contexts. Salop is an historical way of referring to Shropshire.

Since joining St James’s Place my business trading name was Ryan Yeomans Financial Planning Services. With effect from Friday 6th June you will notice an exciting change for me, as I have chosen to incorporate my business and move from sole trader status to a limited company. So the change that you will see, is my business trading name and this will be Salop Financial Planning LTD.

You will see no other changes to the services that I am proud to provide, as I work with my clients to achieve their financial goals. I look forward to working with my existing clients and onboarding new clients, in the coming years and thereafter.

If you have any questions in relation to this change then please feel free to get in touch.

When I moved to Shifnal, I signed up as a volunteer driver. Enabling some of the elderly in our community to get together and socialise.

Due to my business demands, I reluctantly stepped back from the driving. However, I help deliver a film experience once a month, where the members have food and liquid refreshments.

Today, it was Slumdog Millionaire and we even got the members doing some Bhangra moves.

Had great delight last week helping a young couple and their 4 legged furry son, get on the property ladder in Scotland. I hope they make a lifetime of memories in their wonderful new home.

From application to completion was super quick.

Running a business can keep me on my toes. I love the weekend to take time out, and take Chip Yeomans the 1st and his Bestie, Bertie, for a morning bimble.

It was beautiful today with frost underfoot but feeling the warmth from the rising sun.

Taking my downtime is really important for me. Reset, recharge and refocus to help my clients with their financial goals.

Redundancies can effect people in different ways. Whether this is voluntary or compulsory it can be both worrying and confusing.

I was subject to 2 redundancies between 2011 and 2021. The first one was compulsory and the latter was voluntary.

Questions you may ask?

What do I do with my redundancy money?
What does that mean for my existing pension?
How about the benefits that I will lose - Sick pay, death in service cover amongst others
What does ot all mean for me and my family?

It can be all so confusing.

I fully recommend that you talk these things through, to fully understand how such an event will effect you both personally and financially.

The last 3 years have flown by, in a good way of course, and I feel really passionate about helping people with their financial goals.

I have taken some time this weekend to review my business. I wanted to review where my clients have come from along my journey. The results are emphatic . . .

47% of my clients have come from recommendations
25% of my clients are friends/social media/facebook friends
7% of my clients are my family members
6% of my clients are ex colleagues
15% other

I just wanted to personally thank everyone who has recommended my services and felt that they could handover their trust.

I am really interested to discuss with anybody who made it a new year resolution to review their finances and get financially fitter.

Little Sunday bimble to clear the mind and prepare for another busy week working with my clients.

This time, it was Haughmond Hill, usually with superb views of Shrewsbury and the Shropshore Hills.

Lots of people out walking with their furry children.

Just may have had a nibble at the on site cafe too . . .
