The Farmers event at Urban Ark felt less like an event and more like something quietly powerful taking root.
By mid-morning, over 40 people had gathered—families, children, and curious minds—each arriving with a different expectation, but leaving with something shared: connection.
The space came alive with movement and purpose as hands got busy building, planting, feeding, and learning.
The chicken coop quickly became a hub of excitement. Children who had never been near farm animals before were suddenly confidently feeding chickens, collecting fresh eggs with careful hands, and learning what it really means to look after living things. There was laughter, a bit of nervousness at first—but mostly wonder.
Out in the garden beds, small fingers pressed seeds into the soil for the very first time. Lessons about patience and growth weren’t just explained—they were experienced. Each child walked away knowing how to start their own vegetable patch, understanding that food doesn’t just come from a store, but from care, time, and effort.
Nearby, others were drawn to the animals. The goats, playful and curious, kept everyone on their toes, while the horse stood as a calm teacher of gentleness and respect. Children learned how to approach, feed, and care for these animals—lessons that go far beyond farming.
And while all of this was happening, the energy never dipped. Thanks to Snowblust, everyone was well taken care of, with food ready and waiting—giving people the chance to pause, connect, and share stories about what they were experiencing.
But perhaps the most meaningful outcome wasn’t just what was learned—it was what was felt.
By the end of the session, tired feet and dusty hands told the story of something real. The children didn’t want to leave. They didn’t ask if it would happen again—they asked when. That kind of response says more than any feedback form ever could.
What started as a simple community event became a reminder: when people come together to learn, build, and connect with nature, something lasting is created. And yesterday, at Urban Ark, that something truly began to grow.
