Time flies when you are having fun!

What an incredible year - a year teeming with election based news, interest rate cut speculation, market moves and so much more that kept us on our toes.

64 countries held their elections this year - representing over 49% of the world’s population - what a feat!

Overall a solid year for the local and global markets considering the above. For South Africa, it has been a year of progress we would say - no load-shedding, a GNU, an ever increasing confidence in our local market, interest rate cuts and so much more. We’re excited to see where we go as a country going forward.

Here at spry. Financial Planning we have moved offices, we have added to our investment offering, we are almost complete with our new website build, we launched a podcast and could go on, but in a nutshell we are so proud of the progress that we have made this year and cannot wait to continue enhancing our offering for you next year.

To each and every client, thank you for joining the journey and entrusting us with your financial planning - we do not take this lightly and value each and every one of you. Wishing you and your loved ones a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

when planning financially for the future, what are the most common retirement planning mistakes people make?

this chart uses data from the 2022 Natixis Global Survey, which polled 2,700 financial professionals across 16 countries between March and April 2022.

according to professionals, the most common retirement planning mistakes are time-related, like outliving savings or not understanding how inflation can affect a portfolio over time.

last week Friday Travis Hawkins and Pierre Botha were fortunate enough to join the Ilembe Chamber of Commerce and sit in on a presentation by the Commissioner of the South African Revenue Service (SARS) , Prof Edward Kieswetter.

the Commissioner has overseen incredible changes at the South African Revenue Service (SARS) since 2019 with not only improving revenue collections (which is the most efficient source of income for our country) on a continual basis, implementing a clear focus on increasing compliance but also being the architect of a transition to a more efficient digitally based institution.

we see this as another cog in the wheel that reflects a South Africa which is moving in the right direction.

since our 2nd birthday our team has grown to 8 full time employees, our assets under management has shown strong growth and we have made significant improvements to the business.

we are so grateful to have the opportunity to serve our community, it is a privilege and none of the above is possible without you, our clients.
