Why is it so difficult to get invoices?
Why are receipts suddenly missing?
Why do bookkeepers have to beg for source documents?
And the most common response?
Hai bo.
Letโs be clear.
๐ Money moved from trust to business must have a reason.
What was it for?
Fees? Disbursements? Deposit?
Where is the invoice that supports it?
What exactly is being hidden in those invoices?
Because hereโs another issue that comes up often:
Money is coming into the business account, but there are no invoices.
No billing.
No paper trail.
And yet โ Iโm very certain this was covered in law school:
โ Clients must be invoiced
โ Deposits must go into the trust account, not business
โ Business income must be supported by invoices
So why are deposits being received directly into business accounts?
Why is client money treated casually?
Why is documentation an afterthought?
Let me say this clearly:

Your bookkeeperโs job is to see the mess early, fix it early, and protect you before auditors arrive.
When you hide source documents from your bookkeeper, you are not protecting yourself โ
you are delaying the problem.
Let the bookkeeper see everything.
Let them help you clean it properly.
So that when auditors arrive,
there are no surprises.
