For the past eighty years-(from 2018 upto now in 2026) Lewis has actively participated in Mpulungu politics and has not only been a strong voice speaking for and on-behalf of the people of Mpulungu on their local radio of Walamo and on various community engagements on the ground, but he has also been "a voice of reason and vision" which has been resonating with people's wishes and demands on the grassroots. He was also the most heard and respected voice on the ground in Mpulungu Constituency when it came to interacting with the people on the ground during the campaign period in the previous 2021-general elections.

For too long, Mpulungu has faced unemployment, lack of clean running water from the taps and has no sewerage system, poor infrastructure, informal settlements, vandalized cemeteries due to lack of protection of cemeteries and public land, poor sanitation and waste management, lack of credit for local traders and weak service delivery. These problems are not solved by classroom theories or recycled political slogans. They require economic understanding, planning and negotiations with investors, banks and development partners.

Lewis Chizu understands these challenges not as a theory, but from real experiences in business, consulting and economic development.
