💄Salik and VAT: What Changes from 1 June 2026?

If you drive in Dubai, you may have already seen the announcement from Salik.

Starting from 1 June 2026, toll charges, parking fees processed through Salik, and tag activation fees will be subject to 5% VAT.

🚗 What does this mean in practice?

✅ Every Salik toll crossing will now attract an additional 5% VAT.

✅ Salik tag activation fees will be subject to VAT as well.

🅿️ Salik Parking transactions will also include VAT where applicable under the new framework.

The VAT collected will be remitted to the Federal Tax Authority in line with UAE VAT legislation.

For businesses, this raises a practical question:

📌 Are you capturing Salik tolls and parking charges correctly in your accounting records?

For VAT-registered businesses using vehicles for taxable business activities, the VAT component may become recoverable, subject to the normal input tax recovery rules and proper supporting documentation🚨

This may look like a minor change.

But for businesses with fleets, sales teams, delivery operations, site visits, or frequent travel across Dubai, these small transactions can accumulate into a noticeable amount over the year.

🕊️Today, 9 May 2026, is the Great Victory Day.
The day the world remembers the victory in the World War II.

And whatever different countries may say today about heroism in that war, let’s be honest: it would never have happened without the Soviet Army.

That army was formed by our grandparents.
And in my family, those grandparents came from different nations: Moldova, Ukraine, Russia … together with 15 other Soviet nationalities united against fascism.

Yes, many countries contributed to the victory, and their sacrifice should never be ignored.
But the Soviet people were among those who suffered the most.

The war was happening on our lands.
It destroyed cities, villages, families.
27 Millions of civilians, children, and soldiers lost their lives.

Hi**er committed su***de during the Battle of Berlin as Soviet troops closed in.

And it was the Soviet flag that was raised over the Reichstag and became one of the main symbols of victory over N**i Germany

For many of us, this day was never just another historical date in a textbook.
It was personal.

We grew up listening to our grandparents’ stories.
Real stories. Painful stories. Human stories.

And today, in 2026, I do not want anyone to gain new “personal memories” of war.

I want the Second World War to remain only in our grandparents’ memories, not become the reality of future generations.

Today, I choose to celebrate peace.
Humanity.
Life.

And the hope that unity will always be stronger than hatred.

💄Many people have been asking how we feel in the current situation and how we cope.

My answer is simple.

Yes, I won’t lie — I was shocked.
For about a week, I could hardly think or work.

But at the same time, I was delivering a webinar on e-invoicing.
Because when it comes to work, my brain switches on, no matter what.

Are we still worried? Of course.
Everyone who loves the UAE and is connected to it feels the same.

But here is an important distinction.

👉 Worry is not force majeure.
👉 Concern is not an inability to perform.

You cannot stop fulfilling your obligations just because the situation feels uncertain.

And if you look around, you’ll see it clearly:
• Federal Tax Authority has not announced any relaxations
• The FTA portal is working without disruption
• Government entities, licensing authorities, and immigration are operating as usual

Which means, business continues.

🚨And the most important - clear financial picture is something extremely important for our customers today!

So my message is simple:

Get back to your routine. It helps more than you think.

From our side, nothing has really changed.

We have always been flexible and we remain so:
• Work from home with your family, if that gives you comfort
• Work from the office, if routine gives you stability
• Work remotely from your home country — also possible

This is not new for us. This is how we operate.

And honestly, this flexibility is what keeps us moving forward.
