Did you know accounting has a Renaissance connection?
Picture this: it's 1494, and Luca Pacioli, a Franciscan friar and mathematician, publishes a book that lays out, for the first time in print, the system of double-entry bookkeeping merchants had been quietly using for years. That book earns him the title "Father of Accounting."
But Pacioli wasn't just a numbers guy. He was close friends with Leonardo da Vinci, who illustrated one of his other books. And in his spare time, he studied and wrote about magic tricks and sleight of hand.
We love this one because it's proof that the best problem-solvers rarely stay in one lane. The same mind that brought structure to the ledger also chased curiosity everywhere else.
So here's to keeping the books, and staying a little bit magic.
