Interesting Article on the OECD attempt to harmonise corporation tax.

The 1970s & 80s were a depressing time in Ireland with little prospects and mass emigration. During the 1980s the government started a low corporation tax environment to encourage foreign multi nationals to set up in Ireland. The result was the Celtic Tiger and the subsequent success of the Irish economy. The country is now one of the most attractive locations for overseas investment globally not just because of its low tax rate but its young well-educated population and its proximity to the UK and Europe. It is a place where professional foreign nationals want to work.

Now as countries look to generate additional revenue streams to pay for their own Fiscal policies, the powers at the OECD want to end the low tax rate and harmonise tax rates around the globe. If the Irish model of 12.50% corporation tax is working why don’t these countries reduce their own rates and attract these companies themselves. It is like a child playing a game and when they are not winning, they want to change the rules to suit themselves.

Ireland so far has rightly resisted and hopefully will continue to do so.

They're resisting because low tax rate has worked for their economy

1) It is your time in the market and not "timing the market".
2) Investment in Equities should be a medium to long term strategy.
3) Leave your emotions at the investment door. Emotional decisions lead to bad results.
4) Volatility is an opportunity. The dips you go through in the moment will not seem so large over the longer term.

Investing in Equities provides an opportunity for real returns above inflation and other asset classes. Please feel free to contact me if you want to discuss your portfolio or start investing today.

The Dow Jones is 125 years old. In its honor, I've put together this animated chart. A big thanks to Economist Paul Temperton, who stitched this time ...

The US Federal Reserve leaves interest rates unchanged and does not except any increases until 2023. This is good news for Borrowers but not good news for Savers with money in the Bank.

If you feel your money should work harder for you please get in contact.

However, the central bank gave no indication as to when it will begin cutting back on its aggressive bond-buying program.
