RIBAA VERSUS USURY
Many gnostics (AARIFS) have known that one of the human attributes referred to in the Qur'an is that they are JAAHIL, among other things (33:72). Regardless of this, Allaah azwajal has appointed them as His KHULAFAA on ARDH. In an attempt to enlighten these human beings, an effort was made to explain the approximately 500 Dos and 800 Don'ts, which constitute the Islamic commands, in a language which these humans could understand. Obviously, to do this, words had to be used in a language that was known to these humans.
Some stupid human beings, among whom there are many who are evil to their core, take the concepts derived from these translated words, and then use those as a basis for debate and discussion so as to lead them astray.
INTEREST is a concept that was introduced by the KNIGHTS TEMPLAR who returned from the Crusades with a lot of wealth, which they would lend to the monarchs for a fee. They also introduced the AWQAAF (TRUSTS) which they came to know about during their period in the LEVANT (SHAAM)
These practices of INTEREST and TRUST were later incorporated into Laws that were passed in those lands. These laws defined these terms. For example, Section 2 of the Banking Regulations Act and Section 2 of the Negotiatiable Instruments Act both define interest within the purview of that Act. These Acts, or parts thereof, are sometimes repealed, and at other times modified. Further, as these definitions are solely for the purpose of interpretation of the statutes of that particular legislation, they also differ.
If some idiot takes this often edited and several times modified definition of INTEREST and compares it to RIBAA, why are the supposedly educated believers (MU'MINS) not realising that Islaam is a complete religion?
The Holy Qur’an ordains the prohibition of RIBAA at least five times in the Second Chapter, Soorah AL BAQARAA. This prohibition of RIBAA has been referred to as (i) “Madness” (TAKHABBUT), (ii) a thing God wants to “destroy” (MAHQ), (iii) something which deserves a “war” (HARB) from God, if it is not abandoned, (iv) a thing which is the anti-thesis of “faith” (EEMAAN) or in other words is “infidelity” (KUFR), and (v) a thing if persisted in, would call for “a permanent abode in hell” (KHULOOD FIN-NAAR).
The religion is complete. More than 99% of Islaam can be understood and acted upon by the most ignorant and idiotic humans or jinns. As for those who are mentally incapable, the pen is lifted from their book of deeds anyway, as a result of which they will not be held accountable.
There is a very small part of the religion which is complicated, where QIYAAS, URF, MASAALIH MURSALA, etc have to be taken into consideration. For this Allaah has created FAQEEHS who follow the process of IJTHIHAAD and deliver their FATWAS which would be binding upon the Muslims living at that point in time.
UNDERSTAND THIS....
ALLAAH has not forbidden USURY or INTEREST. ALLAAH HAS FORBIDDEN RIBAA AND DECLARED WAR AGAINST THOSE WHO TAKE IT. In fact, only one Sahaabi was named by Rasoolullaah swalallaahu alayhi wa sallam during the sermon at Hajj, and that is his uncle, Abbaas alayhi salaam in the context of the RIBAA owed to him being waived.
Federal Reserve Act was passed as law by the United States of America in 1913, which paved the way for the creation of the Federal Reserve Board. The Federal Reserve Board was established in the same year and among other things, mandated with the conducting the monetary policy. This includes the responsibility of deciding the interest rate at which they would discount the financial instruments of the Commercial banks, and also the rate at which they would lend money to these financial institutions in their capacity as the lender of last resort.
Some of these concepts of usury and interest were modified thereafter. Further, they have been amended a lot since, and are still evolving. Allow me to illustrate through a parallel totally different situation.
As recently as the mid 1980s, the American Medical Journal described HOMOSEXUALITY as a disease. But nowadays, the same Journal describes HOMOPHOBIA (hatred of HOMOSEXUALITY) as a disease. So, now can we take this recent version as a benchmark and criticise the TORAH, PSALMS, BIBLE and QUR’AN?
What if the American Medical Journal allows cross breeding between humans and their pets? What if the same American Medical Journal classified those who did not concur with this view of humans breeding with dogs and cats as crazy? What if a law was passed through Parliament requiring these haters to be either committed to mental institutions or set aside as pariahs who would not be allowed into or considered as a part of the community?
Islaam is a complete religion. RIBAA is Haraam. One can understand the concept of RIBAA by studying the Qur’an and Sunnah, if one is so inclined. May Allaah bless Bilaal Bin Rabah who asked Rasoolullaah swalallaahu alayhi wa sallam, "Would I not be oppressing the other party to the transaction if I demand that he give me one Sa'a of fresh dates in exchange for one Sa'a of old dates?"
The reply teaches us how to transact without RIBAA. Our religion was completed when the revelation of the Qur’an was completed and within the next 100 days or so, Rasoolullaah swalallaahu alayhi wa sallam passed away.
The door of IJTIHAAD is open. Abu Al Fadhl, Abbaas is the only one who was mentioned by name on the Khutbah in Arafa. Therefore, we study his practice in matters related to the conditions for TIJAARA which do not encroach into RIBAA. During his tenure as Caliph, Umar introduced standards by making the weight of a Dinar 4.25 grams of gold and Dirham as 2.975 grams of Silver
Later ones from Khulafa Al Raashidheen radhiyallaahu anhum ajmayeen have shown as how to be a role model. TARJUMANUL QUR'AN Abdullah bin Abbaas radhiyallaahu anhuma showed us how to use their example by stating clearly that RIBAA lies in NUSUU (delay)
If some Muslim chooses not to follow, then this is caused by ignorance or stupidity or negligence or arrogance or a combination of the above.
May Allaah, The Exalted, be pleased with all the Muhaajirs (Migrators) and Ansaars (Helpers) as well as those who follow them in goodness till the day of judgement, including the Saint reading this note, and the sinner who posted it.
If there is any good in that which has been stated here, then it has been inspired by Allaah. Otherwise, I have erred, in which case, or in any case, for that matter………………… May Allaah bless me with beneficial knowledge, total understanding, completion of my religion, righteous progeny, abundant permissible provision that is spent in His way, ample sustenance, freedom from debt, dependence on none but Himself, contentment at His decree and gnosis of His essence; and not cause me to die until He has made me an acting, learned, memorizer of the Qur'aan with whom He is well pleased, whom He prevented from doing bad deeds and inspired to do good deeds that found His acceptance sufficiently, to become a means of allowing entry into the most exalted portions of Jannah without either punishment or reckoning, for all deceased believers, present and future humans and jinns, including yourself and myself.... Aameen, thumma aameen, alhamdhulillaahi rabbil aalameen.
