Established in June 2018, as an incorporated association, with a primary objective to promote sustainable developm
ent principles through research, education, and innovation. ACSDRI is a registered Not-For-Profit Charity Foundation listed at
the Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission (ACNC) registry. We are also registered with the Australian Securities & Investment Commission (ASIC) as an Australian Registered Body. Australia is one of the prosperous OECD economies. In the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) Index, Australia is ranked 35th among 193 UN Member States with an overall score of 75.58 (as per 2021 available data). In this ranking Finland is the highest-ranking SDG country with an overall score of 85.90. A score of 100 indicates that all Sustainable Development Goals have been achieved. The country’s overall the Human Development Index (HDI) ranking is 8th out 189 countries with an overall HDI value of 0.944 as per the 2020 UNDP Human Development Report. In 2015 the Country was at the 2nd position out of 188 countries as per the 2016 UNDP Human Development Report. Australia is also one of the early adopters of sustainable development strategy. Australia adopted the National Strategy for Ecologically Sustainable Development in 1992. At the same time our country faces many challenges because of over-consumption behavior, discrimination to aboriginal communities, catastrophic bushfire, regular drought, climate change challenges, obesity, gender gaps, green-house gas emission and ageing population. The Objectives of ACSDRI
promoting protection and conservation of the natural environment and biodiversity of life on land and below water. promoting the SDGs and executing projects at a ground level for realizing the SDGs. undertaking research addressing the SDGs and conducting research on sustainability and carbon accounting. promoting ecologically sustainable development values and principles including by holding public conferences, seminars, workshops and creating educational materials (including in relation to intra-/inter-generational equity, conservation of biodiversity, adoption of precautionary principles and human rights and participation);
undertaking educational awareness campaigns (including the );
conducting and facilitating circular economy centric innovations to address the sustainability challenges. liaising and working with likeminded organizations and presenting research to the public and appropriate bodies. conducting research and educating on climate change mitigation, adaptation, impact, reduction and early warnings; and
any other activities ancillary to or necessary for the fulfilment of the Association’s Environmental Purpose.
