At today's meeting of the RBA Board, a decision was made to not increase the official rate which will remain at 3.6% for now. They noted a lower than expected CPI and the economy slowing. However it was noted that there my be further rate rises needed.
For now at least, households across Australia will have some relief from increasing interest rates for the first time in a year.

In case you have missed it, the Board of the RBA as increased the official cash rate to 3.35%, due to annual inflation for the December 2022 quarter being 7.8%, the highest since 1990. The RBA press release can be found here

At its meeting today, the Board decided to increase the cash rate target by 25 basis points to 3.35 per cent.

RBA Lifts the cash rate by 0.50% to 1.35%. The media release can be found here

At its meeting, the Board decided to increase the cash rate target by 50 basis points to 1.35 per cent.

The RBA Board today lifted the cash rate by 0.5% to 0.85%
This was more than many commentators were expecting. The RBA says that inflation is higher than expected ".......higher prices for electricity and gas and recent increases in petrol prices mean that, in the near term, inflation is likely to be higher than was expected a month ago."

As anticipated the RBA has just announced an increase to the official rate. It's increased by 0.25% up to 0.35% from the historic low of 0.10%.
