If you are in the building and construction or cleaning industry, you may need to lodge a Taxable Payments Annual Report (TPAR), which is due 28 August.

It applies to businesses in building and construction, cleaning, courier and road freight, IT, and security. Businesses that provide a mix of services can also be caught, depending on how much of their income comes from these activities.

Keeping your subcontractors' details up to date and recorded correctly means a clean export and a quick reconciliation, rather than digging through bank feeds and invoices at the deadline. If you are not sure whether it applies to your business, have a chat with your accountant.

End of financial year is approaching, and a few areas are worth checking before 30 June. Superannuation contributions need to reach the fund, not just be paid, if you want the deduction this financial year. The Small Business Superannuation Clearing House also closes for good on 30 June, so anyone still using it needs a new arrangement in place. Add WorkCover declarations, payroll tax, and Single Touch Payroll finalisation to the list and it is a lot to track at once.

If your business uses the ATO Small Business Superannuation Clearing House, there is something you need to act on before 30 June.

The clearing house closes permanently on 30 June 2026, which means the final quarterly super payment for April to June cannot be processed through it. That payment is still due on 28 July, but you will need a different way to make it.
