Did you know you could boost your super by up to $300,000 ($600k for couples) using the proceeds from your home sale, even if you’re already over your contribution caps?

The best part? You don’t actually have to 'downsize.' You can buy a larger home, move into a rental, or use the cash to travel. As long as you meet the criteria, how you live next is up to you.

Are you eligible?
- Aged 55 or older.
- Owned your Australian home for 10+ years.
- The home was your primary residence (CGT exempt).

Watch out for:
The 90-day deadline from settlement.
The mandatory ATO election form. Centrelink asset test changes.

Check your eligibility with the PPT team today.

A lot is shifting right now - rates, markets, super rules, trade. The best thing you can do is make sure your financial plan reflects where things actually stand, not where they were 12 months ago.

Have you made the most of your super contributions this financial year?

The concessional cap is $30,000 and if your super balance was below $500,000 at 30 June 2025, you may be able to carry forward unused amounts from previous years.

Contributions need to be received by your fund before 30 June.
Don't leave it to the last minute, get in touch this week, (03) 5331 3711.

Another RBA meeting, another decision to watch. With inflation still running above target and most major banks tipping a further hike in May, now is the time to review your mortgage, your business debt, and your cashflow, before the decision, not after.

We're here to help you get ahead of it. Call (03) 5331 3711.

The Australian Government is reviewing EV tax incentives, meaning the window to lock in significant savings may be closing.

While the 2025–26 framework still offers full FBT exemptions and higher LCT thresholds, the Treasury is considering "tapering" these benefits soon.

Review your strategy and consider initiating arrangements before potential 2027 legislative changes to secure your tax-exempt status.

We’re seeing a rise in "AI hallucinations", where tools like ChatGPT invent tax laws or suggest deductions that don't exist in Australia.

While it’s fast and convenient, relying on unverified advice in the Australian tax system carries significant risks.

- No AI "Safe Harbour": The ATO holds you liable for any AI-generated errors or penalties.
- Missing Context: AI lacks the nuance to see how deductions impact your Super or HECS.
- Data Exposure: AI "learns" from your inputs. Once you share a TFN or private data, you lose control of that information.

The Australian tax system is too complex for a "one-size-fits-all" approach.

The ATO’s new draft guidance (TR 2025/D1) targets holiday home deductions.

If your property is deemed a "lifestyle asset" rather than a "genuine investment," you could lose thousands in claims for interest, rates, and maintenance.

Key ATO Red Flags:
- Blocking out peak periods (School holidays/Easter).
- Setting rates above market value.
- Inconsistent advertising.

Don’t wait for an audit.
