Reading your stories reminded me just how lucky we are to be part of such amazing communities.

It was extremely difficult to just pick one from each community and I will most likely look to do this again in the future.

This is exactly why I started JWR Accounting & Advisory Services. Yes, I am an accountant, but I am also extremely passionate about giving back to the communities that have supported me from day one.

Whether that’s Ballarat, Maryborough, the Wimmera or beyond, supporting local people and local clubs is something we’ll continue to do.

After reading all of the stories on my last post, and finding it extremely difficult to only pick 3 organisations, I will be looking to sponsor more clubs in the next 12-18 months.

So if you’re involved with a sporting club, charity, school or community group that’s making a genuine difference and you’re looking for sponsorship or support, I’d love to hear from you.

We can’t help everyone, but we’re always looking for opportunities to give back where we can.

Sorry about the rambling a bit in this video but I wanted everyone to know about my short journey so far in business. I really hope the message to help the community is clear.

One year ago, I took a leap of faith and started JWR Accounting & Advisory Services.

Looking back, I honestly couldn’t have imagined the support I’ve received from Ballarat, Maryborough and the Wimmera.

To every client, every referral, every share, every conversation and every person who has believed in what we’re building… thank you. It means more than you know.

As a small way of giving back, I’d love to support the communities that have supported me.

I’m looking for:
❤️ One sporting club or community group in Ballarat.
❤️ One in Maryborough.
❤️ One in the Wimmera.

Although I hate the camera, its probably time to meet the face behind JWR Accounting & Advisory Services.

Hi, I’m Joel, Director of JWR Accounting & Advisory Services.

I started this firm for one simple reason:

To help people achieve their goals in business with proactive, easy to understand communication. Too many business owners don’t get the clarity or forward-planning they deserve from their accounting relationship.

Accounting shouldn’t feel confusing, rushed, or reactive. You should know where you stand, what’s coming next, and what decisions you can make before it’s too late.

Yes — compliance matters.
Tax returns, BAS, lodgements… they’re non-negotiable.

But ticking boxes alone doesn’t help you grow and achieve your goals.

At JWR, we focus on:

• Clear, plain-English communication

• Proactive advice — not last-minute surprises

• Regular check-ins, not once-a-year contact

• Understanding you and your business, not just the numbers

I genuinely care about the people I work with. That means taking the time to explain things properly, being available when advice is needed, and helping you make informed decisions throughout the year — not just at tax time.

A pretty special full-circle moment on Tuesday night.

I was lucky enough to be School Captain at Maryborough Education Centre12 years ago, and this week I had the opportunity to give back to the school by sponsoring a local scholarship for Accounting and Business Management.

Even better, the recipient of the award is one of the current school captains who will be joining JWR Accounting & Advisory Services as a trainee starting in January 2026.

I had the pleasure of meeting Mitch at the awards night and am extremely excited to have him coming onboard next year as he takes on the challenges of university. Mitch is a great person who cares about helping others around him and will fit right into the JWR Accounting Team.

Supporting young people in our community who are willing to have a crack and build something for themselves is something I genuinely care about.

Not a bad Tuesday night, all things considered.
