🎉 Happy New Financial Year!

It’s that time of year again!

Individual tax returns can now be booked online via my website.

Please note that availability is limited during July/August (whilst I prioritise business compliance).

For most people, there’s no need to rush to lodge in July, and booking from late August is recommended.

I look forward to helping you this tax season.

The end of the financial year is upon us and boy has the year flown!

If you intend to claim motor vehicle deductions via the logbook method, please make sure your logbook remains compliant by entering the codometer reading in it at the end of each financial year.

If you are using the c/km method then this won't be necessary.

Residential investment properties: what last night’s budget will change about negative gearing (using rental expenses to reduce wage earnings etc). If you’ve already purchased a property there is NO change to the deductions claimed.

If you haven’t yet signed a contract, you will experience these changes. This info is just negative gearing related, not related to the tax that will know apply on selling the property.

Tonight the treasurer released a budget that has widespread impact for all tax payers, from individuals to businesses running as trusts, and companies. 😱

Most of the impacts will not occur until AFTER 1 July 2027.

Once I’ve had time to research the new legislation fully, I will provide FB updates and I will reach out to more complex clients that may need to restructure their entity structures to avoid the massive 30% flat tax on all trust distributions (we will have 3 years to restructure). 😳

I appreciate your patience as I do need to make sure I fully understand the legislation before offering any advice/discussions. 🙏

If you want to reduce your study loan balance before indexation applies, you’ll need to make a voluntary repayment by 26 May. This will allow enough time for your payment to be processed.

There are a few ways you can make a voluntary repayment - including BPAY and credit card.

Repayments cannot be claimed as a tax deduction.

If you’re an employer and you think you fall into these categories, and you haven’t received my email mail out, please contact me ASAP so we can get your FBT return sorted.

Adding a little ✨spice✨ to your business this year?

If you’re treating your staff to some extra perks, these add-ons could attract fringe benefits tax (FBT) on the side.

Before you serve up those freebies, check whether FBT applies so you stay on top of your obligations.
