Harry Stavrinos - Roselands Ward Councillor

Harry Stavrinos - Roselands Ward Councillor STATESMAN - Elected by the People for the People

ROADS, RATES, RUBBISH & GRASSROOTS COUNCIL ISSUES e) Holding the LABOR/GREENS CONTROLLED COUNCIL ACCOUNTABLE.

THERE IS NOTHING MORE IMPORTANT THAN FAMILY- Hi I'm Harry Stavrinos and I'm a Registered Tax Agent & Accountant who has worked in our family-run Accountancy Practice in Belmore since 1998. My father Andrew Stavrinos started the practice in 1980 and we have been part of the Canterbury-Bankstown Area since that time, when we moved to Greenacre(44 years ago)

I was educated at Chullora Public school

and Strathfield South High School during my schooling years and lived in Greenacre until 2007 when I moved to the Eastern Suburbs due to my partner having work commitments in Hospitals. From 2012-2021 I had the privilege of serving as a Randwick City Councillor where I:

a) Delivering Local Infrastructure

b) Opposed Over-Development in particular the 20-Storey High Rise being pushed by Council under the Kingsford To Kensington(K2K) Planning Model. c) Standing up for the silent majority whenever COMMON SENSE decisions were in jeopardy. d) Supporting Local Businesses & Organisations by delivering greater amenity & improving Town Centres. ATTACHED BELOW: My list of ACHIEVEMENTS-

* Delivering the $4.3 million Kensington Community Centre & Outdoor Gym which had been promised for 15 years.

* Fought against the LABOR/GREENS 20% increase to council rates holding them accountable for their fiscal irresponsibility.

* Fought against Councils Kingsford To Kensington Strategy(K2K) which would see 20 Storey High-Rise being built across both Town Centres.

* Delivering the $2.5 million Meeks Street Plaza which is aimed at creating an alfresco dining area in Kingsford along with being used as an area for Market Activations.

* Delivering a new playground for Kokoda Park & Fitzgerald Park in Kensington & Kingsford.

* Delivering the $13 Million Rainbow Street Carpark to alleviate the loss of 700 car spaces caused by the State Governments Light-Rail Construction and delivering angled-parking in Kingsford & Kensington Town Centres.

* Fought for residents & small businesses affected by the Light-Rail Construction to have the Light-Rail Development Agreement altered to compensate them for noise, loss of business and damages caused to dwellings.

* Introduced programs aimed at improving Public Domain areas in Town Centres to support local business.

* Implemented Traffic Study for Kingsford & Kensington which has seen traffic calming devices being installed in side streets to deter speeding.

* Introduced grass cutting services for pensioners and increased pensioner rebate. In the last 12 months our family has seen the passing of close family members and with the birth of our son Andrew, I've realized just how important family is and living closer to them for my son. My wife Renee and I both grew up in the Canterbury-Bankstown Area and we are now looking to reside in Belmore. As the Roselands Ward Candidate - I plan to hold Council fiscally responsible. Our rates have gone up 36% in the last 3 years with NO IMPROVEMENT TO SERVICES OR OUR AMENITY. I will request that council regularly clean our town centres and streets and crack down on the illegal dumping of rubbish which has been a massive problem. I will also request the DE-MERGER of Canterbury-Bankstown Council- as it stands only 25% of the current Council budget is allocated towards the Canterbury side of Council. This is reflected in the poor state of our roads, footpaths and other infrastructure in the area. With rates having increased more than 36% in the last 3 years, its clear that there have been no savings in the merger of Canterbury-Bankstown Council. I will look at ways in which Council can improve on Green Space...with the ever increasing demand for housing its important that we maintain a level of Green Space to allow future generations to have somewhere for recreational activity. A VOTE FOR HARRY STAVRINOS IS A VOTE FOR NO POLITICS IN LOCAL GOVERNMENT. MY AIM IS TO FOCUS PURELY ON ROADS, RATES & RUBBISH!

E-Bikes have become the new Shopping Trolley issue for Councils- from what I’ve been told we aren’t allowed to touch these bikes as they aren’t our property however what should happen right now is:

OPERATORS SHOULD BE FORCED TO PAY FOR DESIGNATED PARKING AREAS so that these bikes don’t pose a public liability and cause pollution to our streets.

I hope sanity prevails soon so that our Streets are no longer littered with these bikes!

Tonight I attended the 2026 Canterbury Bankstown Small Business Awards. I have to say I was disappointed that very few businesses from within the Roselands Ward nominated to be part of the Awards.

With the current economic climate being as bad as what it is I would like to encourage all small businesses within the ward to look at nominating next year- any promotion we can give to local businesses can only be a good thing!

PS- if you’re a local small business and would like me to promote your entity please don’t hesitate to contact me 🙏

Finally after fighting for more than 18 months to get our roads fixed, it appears that TFNSW have agreed to remediate 13 locations across the Metro Bus Line which have been seriously damaged by buses.

These works will commence on the 31st May- if you have any queries please direct them to the information provided below…..I’ll be keeping an eye on these repairs to make sure that they don’t crumble 5 minutes after being resurfaced!

PLAY STUPID GAMES….. WIN STUPID PRIZES…… A scheduled clean-up for Wednesday Morning turns into a nightmare with rubbish being strewn and thrown all over the place.

Prior to any collection Council advises residents of what can be thrown out and how to place the rubbish in a way to make it easy to be picked up but NOT THIS PLACE!

Is this the way we take pride in our suburbs? By throwing out our rubbish and having it obstruct our footpaths?

Well you’re on notice- the rubbish is being monitored and you have 24-48 hours to have it collected at your own cost!

I’M FED UP

LOVE WHERE YOU LIVE- DOB IN A LITTERER & DUMPER

At next Tuesday nights Council Meeting I’m bringing a motion forward aimed at restoring pride and respect back to our Community.

Quite frankly I’m sick and tired of some residents who thinks it’s ok to use our streets as a tip- throwing their litter and dumping their rubbish wherever it suits.

No sooner do we clean it, we have the same games being played and Council knows who they are and we DO ISSUE FINES…… BUT AS A COMMUNITY WE NEED TO DO MORE!

If you see someone doing the wrong thing- call it out…. Take a pic and send it through to Council or myself.

Just know that every time you talk down our Suburbs you’re talking down our entire Community. Rather than complaining how about you take some action and call out anyone who wants to use our streets as a tip!

LOVE WHERE YOU LIVE

HAVE PRIDE IN WHERE YOU LIVE

RESPECT WHERE YOU LIVE

Last nights Federal Budget wasn’t about helping anyone- it was about maintaining & retaining votes. Rather than cutting back on expenditure the Federal Government increased taxes persecuting the Australians who are the backbone of this country.

Make no mistake our Foreign debt is out of control and we will never get out of this mess. Inflation will stay high and we will go into recession. The Federal Government have created a false economy by employing an additional 41,000 people over the last 4 years and having brought more than 1.2 million into Australia to keep the GDP in the positive.

We are living in uncertain times and I just hope that this uncertainty is resolved sooner rather than later!

Council is working hard to try and keep our City clean. That includes taking strong action against people who illegally dump waste, creating untidy streets and undermine community pride.

Every year, Council invests approximately $2M into illegal dumping prevention and management. The targeted programs are working, with an average reduction of 50% in illegal dumping across our City since launching programs like Eyes On It (https://www.cbcity.nsw.gov.au/residents/waste-and-recycling/anti-dumping-programs). Some hotspots have even improved by up to 95%!

Council is tackling the issue by doing:

· Regular patrols in known dumping hotspots
· Use of surveillance cameras and AI to catch offenders – YES – we are watching
· Community education through social media, newsletters and letterbox drops
· Working directly with strata managers and local businesses to prevent dumping

Council also has a dedicated team on the ground – including three Clean City Officers and more than 20 Rangers – actively investigating and enforcing fines where needed.

If you see illegal dumping, report it to either Council or myself. Your reports help Council act quickly and target problem areas. Call 9707 9000 or contact me personally to lodge a report.

Honestly you can’t put Brains In Statues- what would possess anyone to dump rubbish outside a school?

People should know better- I’ve put a series of questions to Council and I will be asking residents to Dob In A Dumper. I’ll also be asking Council to look at ways to increase resources so that greater fines and compliance can be put in place.

It’s obvious some people have NO RESPECT at all for our Community. LOVE WHERE YOU LIVE 🙌
