Important note about ATO closure over the Christmas period. The ATO's offices, phone support services and customer response on our social media pages will be unavailable during our annual closure.

The closure will start at noon local time Wednesday 24 December 2025. Normal services will resume at 8:00 am local time on Friday 2 January 2026.

To give you the best chance of getting your tax refund before Christmas, you should aim to have your tax return done and submitted by close of business the 7th of December. This date does not guarantee you will receive your refund before Christmas, it just gives it a good chance to arrive before Christmas.
