Yet we’re making it harder and harder to do business in this country.
💳 MERCHANT FEES: Businesses can no longer separately pass on most card processing fees, yet the ATO has announced it will stop accepting credit card payments because of the costs involved.
If the ATO considers these costs too significant to absorb, shouldn’t we be asking what they mean for small businesses?
💰 PAYDAY SUPER: Employees absolutely deserve their superannuation. But moving from quarterly to payday payments creates additional administration, potential compliance costs and cash-flow pressures for many small businesses.
Could a more practical payment timeframe have protected employees while reducing the pressure on employers?
📈 RISING COSTS: Wages, insurance, rent, electricity, software, compliance… the list never ends.
And who carries the financial risk? THE BUSINESS OWNER!
As a Registered BAS Agent and business owner, I’m hearing from more and more people considering closing their businesses and becoming employees again.
When the people creating jobs start walking away, Australia has a serious problem!
I support fair wages, employee protections and appropriate legislation.
BUT WHERE IS THE BALANCE?
Business owners don’t want handouts. They want practical solutions, genuine consultation and a fair go!
