From Everest to - Scaling Mountains in Life & Business isn't just a metaphor, it's my reality!
Straight off the plane from Tibet and Everest Basecamp, I landed in Brisbane for Xerocon 2025. A friend called me “hardcore”, but it actually felt like the perfect re-entry to work.
After weeks surrounded by monasteries and mountains, I stepped into a different kind of summit: a community passionate about making business easier through Apps, AI, and the simplification of processes.
I caught up with peers from CPA Australia – great talk by Jason Robinson FCPA - caught up with old friends (so good to see you, Lynda Mills), met new ones and was even asked to step into a mentor role.
I picked up plenty of ideas (and a little loot!) but my biggest takeaway was this: AI is here and if we don’t embrace it, we will be left behind.
I'm excited to share some of the new Apps, tools and Xero features with my clients and network - they are going to make life easier for many people.
A couple of new features include:
👉 Open AI being embedded into Xero via JAX (Just Ask Xero). And
👉 Bank reconciliations becoming faster with auto matching of transactions. I had great chat with XERO’s head of engineering on in this feature and Xero now learns and remembers how to code transactions. Could save hours! Hopefully not too good to be true!
What AI will never do however, is replace the human touch and a relationship built on trust, integrity and shared values. These are the pillars of MAYDAY Consulting Services.
Technology can streamline the routine tasks, but it’s people, their vision, and courage, that create real progress.
That message hit me at both Everest and Xerocon. You don’t get to a mountain alone; you rely on your team, your systems, and your preparation. In business, it’s no different.
