A wonderful evening celebrating 51 years of Papua New Guinea’s Independence.
Walshs’ Michael, Stuard and Tim attended the PNG Pre-Independence Celebration at Queensland Parliament House, joining members of the community and local leaders to celebrate PNG’s rich culture and the strong relationship between Papua New Guinea and Australia.

A highlight of the evening was the opportunity to meet Queensland Premier .

Congratulations to all the 2026 AOA and AORA ASM Bursary recipients! 👏

Walshs is proud to support this initiative alongside our BNN partners, and we look forward to seeing the successful recipients in Cairns this October.

Congratulations to all the 2026 AOA and AORA ASM Bursary recipients who will attend either the AORA ASM or AOA ASM in October in Cairns.

All bursary recipients will receive complimentary registration, with selected recipients also receiving support towards flights and accommodation.

Nealy 100 applications were received with a final total of 30 successful recipients across seven bursaries including:
- AOA AIDA ASM Bursary
- AOA Trainee ASM Bursary
- AOA AORA ASM Bursary
- BNN AORA ASM Bursary
- Bongiorno Group AORA ASM Bursary
- AOA OWL ASM Bursary
- AOA Rural and Remote ASM Bursary

It was great to be part of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons QLD State Conference 👩‍⚕️, which brought together surgeons and industry leaders for a fantastic day of learning and discussion.

💡 Walshs Associate Katie Brock presented on “Wealth Strategies After the Federal Budget: What Surgeons Need to Know”, unpacking the three Budget night changes with the biggest impact on our clients: negative gearing restrictions on established property 🏠, capital gains tax reform 📈, and the proposed 30% minimum tax on family trust distributions 📊 - and what they mean for surgeons’ broader financial strategy.

Great to see Hugh Walsh attending the Practice Masterclass LIVE in Brisbane last night, bringing together medical specialists, practice managers and industry professionals to explore what it takes to build and grow a successful private practice.

Hosted by Magentus and Prescribe Practice Management, the evening covered practical insights across practice management, finance, legal strategy and technology - all key considerations for specialists establishing or growing their practice.

A fantastic opportunity to connect, share ideas and support medical professionals on their private practice journey.

🥾 Walk with Walshs 2026

Over the weekend, Team Walshs took on the Binna Burra trails to raise funds for The Smith Family.

Our walkers completed the 7km and 21km routes, with the 21km group finishing in under five hours! A huge thank you to everyone who walked, volunteered, donated and helped make the day a success.
