Fuel tax credit.

From 1 April to 30 June 2026, the fuel tax credit rate for petrol and diesel is 20.6 cents per litre. This change is due to the 60.9% temporary reduction in fuel excise.

If you claim fuel tax credits, this update may affect your next BAS.

Not sure what rate applies to you?

The easiest way to get your claim right is to use the ATO’s fuel tax credit calculator. It’s been updated with the new rates for this period.

Record Keeping.
“Do I need to keep my receipts or is a bank statement enough?” is a common question at tax time.
Bank statements alone usually aren’t enough to support a claim. It’s important to keep receipts and invoices as evidence of your expenses.
Your records should generally show:
• The cost of the item or service
• The supplier’s name
• What the expense was for
• The date the expense was paid or incurred
• The date the document was issued
Good record keeping can help make tax time easier and support your claims if reviewed.
