"If Australia is so resource-rich and economically strong, why are we still paying tax—especially when other countries don’t?”

BUT: the United Arab Emirates (UAE) has:
- no personal income tax, Australians pay upto 47%
- GST/VAT of only 5%, Australia's is 10%
- Corporate tax of only 9%, Australian companies pay 25% to 30%

Our resource wealth (iron ore, coal, lithium, gas) is globally significant—but not centrally distributed

Australia has more total resources, more diversified & is a larger economy than the UAE. In total national wealth, Australia is already far richer than the UAE.

The UAE's resource wealth is centralised through the state, the citizens, rather than private sector & industry.

The UAE then channels more resource rent into state-led development and citizen benefits. They provide subsidies to its citizens, ie they actually give money to its citizens rather than take it from them.

There is always a better way, we just need to elect a government to do it!

📊 2026–27 Budget: CGT Reform Explained

Big changes are coming to Capital Gains Tax from 1 July 2027 — and they’ll reshape how investors are taxed across property and shares.

Here’s the key shift:

• ❌ 50% CGT discount is being phased out for future gains
• 📈 Cost base indexation returns (inflation-adjusted gains)
• ⚖️ Minimum 30% tax on real capital gains introduced
• 🔄 Existing assets get split treatment (pre vs post 1 July 2027 gains)

What it means:

* High-growth assets likely pay more tax
* Low-return assets may benefit from indexation
* Timing strategies (like selling in low-income years) are largely removed
* Shares and property are both affected

📌 Overall: the system moves from “discounting growth” to “taxing real gains more consistently.”
